Tynion says his frequent collaborator Snyder even asked the Department of Truth writer if he would pen the script for DC's best-selling Abso
While I am largely liking Absolute Batman (Absolute Wonder Woman is my actual favourite though), I will admit to being a little sad that James Tynion IV convinced Scott Snyder to write Absolute Batman himself instead of James.
Like, yeah I get that Tynion is happy with his indie stuff these days (one banger after another) and I am a fan of Scott Snyder's writing, I'm just really curious what Tynion's take would have been.
What with how both writers come from a horror comics background and are both politically left-leaning, Tynion generally tends to be more overtly political with his work, with use of timely social commentary, and at least of his protagonists will be explicitly LGBTQ (such as Ghost-Maker or the current bi version of Julia Pennyworth, whom he co-created with Snyder), while Snyder's politics tend to be a bit more broad and secondary to the story (the corruption of the wealthy and the military is a frequent topic in his work, however) and focusing more on bombastic absurdity than the more subtle stuff Tynion has done with the characters.
Theoretically? I could see a Tynion-headed Absolute Batman being more in-line with Pornsak Pichetshote's work on Absolute Green Arrow, but lacking the absurd over the top action and characters (such as how Abs!Bruce making up for his lack of ninja training by being physically enormous and yoked) it might not have gathered as much of an audience?
I am hoping that Snyder, who has been curating the creators on the various titles, manages to find some title for Tynion to write in the imprint if he wants, but I can understand if he's busy because he writes a LOT.
