[ID: a comic of adult-aged sokka and zuko. zuko sweeps sokka’s leg, making him fall. he sits down with his knees on either side of sokka’s body and holds one of his swords against sokka’s throat. he says, “I–I thought if I said anything, I’d lose my closest friend and now I–”
sokka looks shocked, and zuko looks upset. “I’ve lost my chance,” zuko says.
sokka looks sad. he gently pushes the sword away. “you felt the same way I did?” he asks. “you feel the same way I–”
angry, zuko cuts him off, turning away swiftly. “forget it.”
sokka calls after him, “wait!” he grasps zuko’s tunic, pulls him in, and kisses him. zuko looks shocked at first, them melts into the kiss.
when they part, zuko is blushing heavily and stares with wide eyes. text behind him, partially cut off, portrays his thoughts: “I didn’t know he– them he said he didn’t like me and he used to like me but he doesn’t anymore and now he– me he kissed me. my best friend kissed me. sokka kissed me. sokka kiss–”
sokka looks apologetic, but he’s blushing too. “I lied,” he says. “I thought I could finally get over you if I just admitted it and moved on. but it didn’t work. you mean too much to me.”
he cups zuko’s face. “this whole time…” zuko says, “we could have been together?”
the last panel is of them leaning their foreheads against each other and holding each other’s cheek, like they’re going to kiss again. “guess we have a lot to make up for,” sokka says. they both look happy. /end ID]
