Break the limit

you have the protagonist who comes from humble origins, the son of a servant and a rogue cultivator who was adopted after he was found wandering the streets. you have the family: the “stepsiblings” who actually love him (even as one of those relationships get sour after things happened), the “stepmother” who resents him but isn’t written as a complete villain in-story, and the benevolent “father” who treats him well but is found wanting as a parent and a husband.

his magical transformation? getting thrown into the burial mounds and coming out with demonic cultivation and a glo up

then there’s the “prince”, who comes from a prestigious sect, raised to be the most proper and righteous cultivator in the land, but he was willing (and had shown!!) to turn his back on his family and society in trying to save the protagonist.
