A few months ago, I said on this blog that in my head PJO is an anime with a badass opening credits. I meant it quite literally, like I can actually picture this OP in my head, with all the shonen tropes like Percy walking around pretty backgrounds, cool fighting scenes with lots of camera movements and huge statues of the Gods standing ominously in the background, Nico standing in the rain till Reyna and Hazel and Jason come for him and a ray of sunshine breaks throught the clouds and light hits his hopeful face, GIMME ALL THE TROPES hahaha. Doing the whole opening would be impossible for a single person but I really wanted to try one big âshonenâ group shot, so here you are !!! This actually took me AGES, Iâm not kidding, the folder for this on my computer is named âbatshit crazy â for a reason, it may not look like it if you donât know animation but a really huge amount of work went into this. I think itâs actually the biggest thing I ever did for a fandom. I canât say how many hours I spent on it since I didnât count, but letâs say I started this in September and spent a lot of week ends and most of my Christmas holidays on it, and I just finished it this week. I had a lot of fun though !!! And I learned a lot too, this was my first time trying to animate japanimation style, with not many in-betweens and ultra dynamic poses. So yeah, I hope you guys will like it !
I want to thank fimyuan and bisexualjason for keeping me motivated with their lovely comments through the project, even when I was complaining about my own decisions to animate frigginâ skeletons, hahaha. Another big thank you to my friend Wekake who went through the animation frame by frame and spotted all the little compositing mistakes that remained ;p
A few words on the process : I animated and colored everything in TV Paint, drew the background in Photoshop, and composited everything in After Effects. The song is an extract of the Yowapeda opening âReclimbâ by Rookiez is Punkâd because I wanted something very distinctively shonen but no lyrics, and I like that song ^^ I animated directly without any model sheet references which is definitely not how you should do it, hahaha, hence the design inconsistencies, but honestly even my madness had its limit and I didnât want to spend more than a year on this thing ;p

I hope you guys learned and teared up from this as much as I did.Â
I made the mistake of looking at these while listening to This is the Sea by the Waterboys. Iâm crying so much right now.Â

Modern Disney Girls! Whoâs gonna be next?
You choose!
EDIT: Updated the post to put all new Gilrs in one place!
EDIT: Updated the Pocahontas picture!
Modern Disney Girl -Â MERIDA!
Why short hair?
Merida was a young, teenage rebel. In the movie, she was always against the way of princess lifestyle. And her hair show this very good - in her times woman should braid her hair, cover them - but she always had this âmessâ on her head.
What would modern Merida do? She would cut her hair, because many of people would say to her - you have such a lovely, curly, red hair, you should be so proud, donât shave it, cut itâŚ
But she would surely do that. That fits her character.Â

KincsĹ Nagy is a student from Sopron, Hungary. She designed for BA degree project cover illustrations for each book about âHarry Potterâ and illustrations for the first part âHarry Potter and the Philosopherâs Stoneâ.
The Harry Potter books are so magical so mysterious and so adventurous. Basically these books are on the border of childhood. Therefore my goal was to redesign them with such illustrations that able to show this extraordinary atmosphere of the books. I started to experiment with interactive illustrations what not distract attention from the plot, but add to the story.Â

Qian Hongyan was just four when she lost both her legs. A speeding trucker left her for dead as she crossed the main road in her village of Zhuangshang in southern China.Â
For nearly two years Qian was immobile as she didnât even have enough of her body left to sit up in a wheelchair. Doctors said her only hope of being able to move by herself again would be extensive surgery to allow her to be fitted with prosthetic limbs. Her parents couldnât afford this treatment.Â
Qianâs granddad Yuan came up with a simple but effective treatment to get her moving again. He took a basketball the village boys had discarded and cut a hole just big enough for tiny Qian to fit into, padded the inside with stiff floor mats from his car, then propped her up inside. All of a sudden Qian was able to stabilize herself and was able to by move herself by rolling the ball in any direction she wanted. She supported herself using wooden handles.Â
From that day on Qian would not be stopped by any obstacle. She went back to school, started to play with her friends again, and started to get back the life of any girl her age. She began professional swimming training in 2007 and defied the odds of her double amputation to become one of the first members of the Yunnan Youth Swimming Club.
She won three gold medals in last yearâs Yunnan Para Games and took a gold and two silver medals at the National Swimming Championship for the Disabled (Under 18) in 2009 before continuing impressively at this yearâs Para Games.
SOURCE
I should have added this in the original post but after attention in the Chinese press, Qian traveled to Beijing to receive free artificial limbs at the China Rehabilitation Research Center, a center that has been providing help to the disabled in China for over 20 years. At 18 years old she is ready for her full adult prosthetics.Â

the end.
