Maybe you were one of the lucky ones not on tumblr to not have seen there were rude fans upset about the ending that wanted the series banned (or to have a narusaku ending). It had nothing to do with your ship unless some of your fellow shippers signed it because they were mad sasunaru didnāt happen. I felt it didnāt stand a chance romantically because neither character viewed each other in a romantic light and that is canon.
