Homestuck - 2009-2016. 2016-2026.
As of today, it Homestuck has been over for a decade. Itâs weird to think about, isnât it?
One day, youâre closing your laptop after watching Act 7. And, now, youâre re-opening it once again to see this message.
I actually wasnât there to see Homestuck end or begin, for that matter. I only got into it around the early 2020s for that matter! But even then, I think it is a story thatâll never leave me.
â
I had always envied what others were so lucky to experience. And I still do. Such a large fanbase, such a vast quantity of fan projects, merch, albums, among other things. I was unfortunately born too late to be there. And, when I got into the fandom, I presumed that that was it.
By that time, Good Smile had bought out FFBF and had consequently shuttered the site, leaving its small amount of deadstock to shatter through the cosmosâs of Paradox Space. And with that, one of the last few pillars of Homestuck were gone. It wasnât about the merch itself (for the most part), really, but more so what it represented. The fact that MSPA WAS so big that they could produce and sell whatever seemed like an unbelievable farce.
Homestuck.com was broken. And Whatpumpkin.com lead to this messageâŚ
âIn early 2020, Hussie officially left What Pumpkin to work on new projects unrelated to Homestuck. In the time since, they completed a new project called Psycholonials. The final chapter of this visual novel was just posted today, and is available on Steam and mobile platforms. While Hussie still retains ownership of the Homestuck IP, they decided last year to fully discontinue their creative involvement in any future Homestuck projects, and instead plans to continue independently developing more projects like Psycholonials.â
At the time of reading, it was early 2023. No new projects had shown themselves. The general consensus was that Homestuck was dead. The only thing that was really going on at the time was the Requiem Cafe and some teasers for Hiveswap Act 3, although the first only proved fruitful for those who could attend and the second wouldnât come out for another three years. It did feel like the first signs of⌠something happening, but it was so doom and gloom at the time that no one really expected much.
â
But of course, as soon as Beyond Canon reared its head in late 2023, things began to chug along. You know the rest.
And now, here we are.
⢠6 MSPAs. (7 if you want to count Psycholonials, which I donât but is apparently being added to the MSPA siteâŚ?)
⢠3 Merch stores
⢠An active continuation
⢠An official half-con meetup in NYC
⢠An animated TV Pilot
⢠And more stuff on the way.
The fandom has grown quite a bit. I think itâs a little nicer too.
â
Initially, walking into Homestuck felt like entering a ghost town. Remnants of what used to be still remain, scattered across sheltered stores, and little outposts of people were residing in dilapidated buildings. But now, I feel like itâs a bit different.
The buildings have been fixed up, some stores â though starting out small â are reopening, the promise for growth doesnât seem like such an insane thing to expect.
Maybe it wonât be the rich city it used to be. But itâs still my town. And I donât think iâll ever choose to move out.
Ngl i have a deltarune fan theory that toby fox being the troll that he is would 100% make the roaring knight a homestuck reference in of itself. Like actually the knight is alaogus to jack and davesprite and is actually a fusion of a darkner and lightner to make the knight. Like imagine its some kind of essence fusion that is of dess (the thing fusing) to an empty dark vessel which then transforms into the knight.
I gave up on my bg3 tactician mode save. I think Iâm just not gonna get all of the achievements in this game.
Anyways I started a new game as Shadowheart to continue my true passion of rare dialogue hunting and like all of the origin characters have main character syndrome but itâs turned up with Shadowheart in my opinion.
Also I chose to break the news about the Shar worship to Astarion and he was like oh thatâs the secret youâve been keeping? Girl, I donât give a fuck.
Ngl i did tactician mode with 2 other people and i ran a way of the hand monk/ theif rouge build and it was so broken i carred my party. It was built so that me being the illithid and having a strength potion and speed potion + mind sanctuary i could get 8 attacks (4 actions, 3 bonus, plus reaction) in one turn and have a guaranteed 150 dps on the low end
It was a crazy run because when we got to the final fight, the whole party died except for me. Because i was illithid and being a monk / rouge i was able to travel ~200m of flight (with 3 bonus action dashes and 2 action dashes) and in fight prep out whole party had as much bombs on us as possible, so i dropped all of it (it doesnât cost any action/bonus to drop items) and blew up the final boss with my last and only remaining action.
All this to say that running builds is the way to go if you keep hitting walls your runs.
Also technically it was an âillegitimateâ honor mode run bc we had to reset a save because of a glitch but i donât really count that

The real impact of AI at university level that I've watched in real time is how so many students come onto courses now - including Masters level - who straight up don't know how to analyse/evaluate things anymore. They just accept whatever they first read/hear completely uncritically. Every time you point it out you have to coax them into Actually Thinking.
I've spotted a huge decline over the last two years. What's upsetting is how so many of our current third years have declined since their first year. I did a seminar with them the other day, on the topic of the environmental impacts of different diets. One guy told me confidently that there would be no additional agricultural lands if we all went vegetarian.
"Cool," I said. "What's your source for that?"
"I'm sure I read it," he said.
"Fair," said I, "go and look it up. Find an academic source, let's assess it to see if it's robust."
The first thing he did was go to Google, and then read the AI summary.
"That's not a source," I said. "Find me a source."
Five minutes later, he happily tells me that a Guardian article says so, and mentions the World Economic Forum.
"Okay," I said. "Neither of those are academic sources, and the WEF is secondary anyway. Go to Google Scholar, and find a journal article."
Ten minutes later, he tells me he can only find articles that say it's a very complex issue in spite of pop cultural received wisdom, and we don't actually know.
A THIRD YEAR. This man has a dissertation due in THREE MONTHS. This is a skill we taught him in first year, and it's all dribbled out of his ears in the quest for easy summaries from an autocomplete algorithm. And I dearly wish I could say he's an exception, but Jesus Christ, that would be a lie.
I'm currently writing a lecture for the second years for their research methods module, and I normally wouldn't need to do this. But I'm having to re-introduce them to the basic concepts of how to actually analyse findings rather than lazily take whatever they seem to say at face value. I'm trying to find a good paper that had Surprising findings, because I want to show them a research question and a set of results and then get them to speculate and research on why they found something so different, but that's a difficult thing to search for.
Ngh. Yelling at the choir here, I know, but NNNNGH
Whats even worse is that as a first year student, i have not used ai for my pride because i want to prove that its possible to get a degree without ai. But Iâm currently failing all my classes because I cant focus or i have literally so much work that takes me so long to do that it is impossible for me to get it all done. And all my peers use ai for their work and assignments and i dont blame them (i do resent them) it is sometimes impossible to finish all your work and keep your sanity especially when theres such uncertainty with how current events are going.
Honestly i feel part of the problem is that the system of grading is flawed where people are incentivized to cheat and do anything they can to get a degree theyâre paying thousands of dollars for the chance of getting, and that ultimately falls to capitalism being the source of the problem but thats an issue that is basically all issues in a trench coat.
Did a brand new kind of bowling shot today
we called it the "trust the Force Luke" shot or the "through God all things are possible" shot
I will lock in tomorrow like nobody has ever locked in before
Intelligence is the ability to observe that your friend always hangs up their toilet paper roll wrong. Wisdom is knowing that they must have their reasons, and the ability to leave it be.
Common sense is knowing not to use your friend's toilet roll in a fruit salad.
Aptitude is being able to quickly puzzle out which kinds of salad you can use as toilet paper.
Fraptitude is being frable to shruickly shruzzle out which frinds of shralad you can shruse as shroilet shraper.

It's actually weird how larger families can be more distant emotionally. I have one aunt, two uncles, and seven cousins on my mother's side, and what do I know about my cousins? Names, faces, and whose kids each of them are. I just flat-out don't know these people, and no longer having them in my life after cutting contact with my mother and sister was a matter of complete indifference to me. They were just strangers whose names I knew.
My boyfriend's family is really close. And since he's close to his family, I'm close to his family. The first christmas we spent together they had already included me in their annual gingerbread house portrait of the whole family.
When my boyfriend's little brother told us that he's got a girlfriend now, my first thought was "ooh, new people coming in??" like that's just the natural course of events that happens. I have to mentally restrain myself and remind myself that first teenage relationships tend to end in first teenage heartbreaks, and that's entirely his own personal matter that little bro is going to have to handle on his own.
The odds of her just getting scooped up into being immediately made part of the family as a permanent fixture are extremely low. Of course I'm happy for him and hoping that it's all going to turn out the best way it can, but there's realistically no way that something like that can just happen twice.
This is a large family?
Dude I have 15 aunts and uncles on my dad's side and at least 40 cousins
And that is just my dad's side
Your grandparents had 15 kids??
Omg having 16 kids is crazy but Iâd have to imagine itâs around 8 + those who married them counting as an aunt / uncle
At risk of sounding like a hater and an asshole this looks like AI and if its somehow not, the editor who reworked images and sharpened them up made it look like AI
Edit: yeah its AI
This is the actual image (from a 6 year old reddit post so def not AI). Either someone asked AI to recreate it or AI, being the plagiarism machine it is, was asked for a pic of dogs finding humans in the snow and just ripped off the first image it could find. Another reminder that AI doesn't actually create anything. Also real cute dogs.
Actually a fantastic example for when you need to illustrate to someone that AI art is theft, blatantly, and not in some abstract way

Curious, who's that John with the dark green ⌝ on the shirt.
Oooh first person to ask about him!
I know they seem as a joke character but for what I'm planning for them it's very far from being that
I still don't have many things written about them but I'll tell you what I have Their name is still John, but their full Title is "John the Undying", although they sometimes goes by "J"
They're the culmination of heroism. They're an extremely eccentric man, awaiting to experience all that the universe has to offer and also shape it into their vision, not to make it better, but rather, different. For now he's just a silly old goose, but keep an eye on their future content and youâll see thereâs more to them than their pleasantries. theyâll keep on unnerving and even recklessly engaging with their friends, even to the point of putting the very people they wish to protect in danger. Chaos is the way of the world now. Now that John has changed, they're simply ahead of the curve.
Here's a little telling of their story:
Once upon a timeâŚ
Four figures stepped into the universe and marked it with their colorsâ green, red, purple, blue.
This world once resembled the one youâve grown used to, the one whose patterns you no longer question. They began their session, each summoned to take their place in the forging of a new universe. But that tale is familiarâits beginnings, its endings, and the places where it refuses to end at all. It was exhilarating for a time, but even the brightest stories fade when repeated without pause. Eventually, every being longs for change.
This universe needed that change. Noâhungered for it. For ages it called out to its champions, not to face some external threat, but to confront the quiet, relentless cycle that had hollowed purpose into habit. Days dissolved into days. Heroes ventured out to taste adventure; citizens endured. Only the chosen roamed the vast frontiers. Only they wrestled with conflict, witnessed the edges of time, stood against the villains that arose like passing storms. They remained at the center, while everyone else drifted toward obscurity, denied the chance to rise.
But such an order cannot hold forever. A world is not meant to rest on the shoulders of a few. All deserve the opportunity to be tested, to be transformed.
If only someone cared enough to push against the pattern. If only someone wished with enough force to fracture the cycle. If only a single will dared to seek something greater.
With one decisive shift, the universe could followâlands, skies, moons, stars bending in quiet obedience. Imagine a world where every day demands strength. Where each life is tempered, refined. Where legacy becomes inevitable. And at the center stands the one who had the resolve to open that path, to witness it, to partake, to ensure it endures.
If only the right point could be found. But⌠what if the center itself was that point?
The stars aligned. Whether by fate or chance is irrelevant. What mattered was transformation. As John changed, so did the worldâunfolding into its fullest form. A place where time lengthens into something deliberate, something meant to be lived rather than merely passed through. A realm that strips away dullness and lays truth bare. A wish, perfected.
And now look at usâstanding on the threshold of that long-awaited result. The world gives, and the world takes; it always has. Yet here you remain. I can feel your presence; the echo of your attention is unmistakable. I only hope to perceive you with the same clarity you use to perceive meânot as a distant force, not as a judge, but as another player in the great design.
I move through this new darkness with purpose, steady in each step, guided by warmth where I find it. Not to cling, but to continue. Not to shatter, but to endure, knowing what waits on the other side of endurance.
So I ask, as I look past the stars and into the quiet beyondâ calm, patient, expectant:
When I meet the Void with open eyes⌠will it meet yours in return?
Here are some facts about him!
-The cross and circle symbol is a null symbol, or at least, that's how I see it
-They're a Lord of Breath, don't think about it too much.
â As their title suggests, John is undying. their entire narrative turns on the idea that they endure. Even when theyâre hurt, beaten, or briefly stopped, they find a way back on their feet. Quitting just isnât in their nature. Honestly, Homestuck wouldnât feel like Homestuck without them.
â Johnâs command over awareness is unwavering. Itâs their sharpest talentâthey can steer situations through words alone. They play within your rules, speak your language, and still bends the outcome their way. Thereâs a clever charm to the way they talk, something that keeps people returning to them again and again.
â A Prospit dreamer, through and throughâ That part hasnât shifted one bit.
â John doesnât always go for the smartest move. They value the thrill of the moment as much as the win. Sometimes they gets so caught up chasing fun that he forgets to watch his back, and that impulsiveness can lead him into trouble.
â Theyâll step out of a fight once theyâve had enough, even if the other side isnât quite ready to let it go.
â John enjoys dancing in any form, and usually prefers doing it alone.
â When theyâre genuinely irritated or upset, John can make an animal-like growl.
â they naturally have dark eyebags.
â My drawings donât show it well, but their teeth arenât all sharp. Most are still humanâjust worn, chipped, and alteredâwhile the fangs and tusk-like additions stand out.
â Their hands and feet are fully clawed, a defining part of his appearance.
â Their favorite colors are olive and fuchsia.
â John keeps a journal filled with accounts of his travels, documenting people, places, and moments from many worlds. The collection has grown huge.
â With everything they know, theyâve become surprisingly poetic. They love to ramble and can twist almost anything into a bit of wisdom. The simple act of conversation delights him.
â John is a deeply passionate creator. Painting, knitting, sculpting, composing, performingâthey throw themselves into the act of making things. The process itself slows them down and helps them appreciate his surroundings. theyâve even taken to repairing his own clothes.
â Like many beings transformed by power, they carrie a new appetite. John has become noticeably more gluttonous and can consume a wide variety of things with ease. Candy, meat, and similar resources call to them strongly. their heightened senses also give emotional âflavorsâ their own weight, with fear being the most potent. The hint of it in the air makes them drool, though he doesnât rely on it to live. Still, seeing someone freeze or tremble can stir that hunger until he satisfies it.
â John can speak almost any languageâancient or modern. Being able to communicate with anyone they meet matters a lot to them.
â Their mind cannot be read. Anyone powerful enough to even attempt it would only hear a nonstop storm of static, rushing wind, and overlapping voices with no pattern. If you want to know what heâs thinking, your best bet is simply to ask them.
-Their favorite trolls are Nepeta and Terezi.
-Dave has a great fear-admiration towards John.
-Rose really dislikes them, always finding a way to confront them.
-Jade is genuinely scared of him but at the same time feels safe around them.
-Jane Hates them fully, disgusted at all that represents them.
-Jake is scared shitless of John, despite being the one who always encourages him to be better.
-Roxy is neutral about John, but always has an open ear to hear about them.
-Dirk is extremely interested in them, always watching them, wanting to dissect every single thing about them to understand who they really are.
-Them and Aranea would get along really well, rambling for hours if they felt like it.
-They're do not have an assigned gender, but they use any pronouns.
I am so glad to finally be able to talk about them, I would love if people keep asking me things about them, I'd be more than glad to answer them!
Hopefully y'all think this is an interesting character and want to see more of him! I'm planning to make a full ref sheet of them soon so hopefully y'all can see them in all their glory someday!
