This fanfic is not finished yet, but it is so incredible that I believe it deserves to reach more people right now.

White Feather Hawk Tail Dear Hunter (which I’ll refer to as WFHTDH since the name is insanely long) is a fanfiction (which we’ll classify as novel) written by the user @freeblooms & @dykleberry . It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world adapted to the cast of the HBO series The Pitt. Its main focus is the ship Hucklerobby (Dennis Whitaker x Michael Robinavich), and it is by far the best fanfiction I have ever read, speaking as a multifandom reader.

The author’s writing style is astonishing—it has kept me reading at the edge of my screen late into the night, and constantly waiting for every new update. It currently has 10 chapters and 64,172 words, in which she fully immerses two completely lost individuals, terrified of the possibility of finding light in a universe where staying hidden might be the most sensible way to survive.

The atmosphere is immersive and tense, constantly balancing moments of vulnerability with the ever-present danger of its world. The pacing is deliberate, allowing relationships and conflicts to develop naturally, which makes every emotional payoff feel earned.

This novel features secondary characters who carry significant weight in Dennis and Robby’s storyline, such as Santos and Noelle. They feel well represented, preserving their essence and the canonical elements that are so important to the fandom—just like those that define them authentically in the series.

I think it’s worth mentioning that this novel contains quite a few 18+ scenes—not only in a sexual sense, but also involving violence, injuries, and situations that may be sensitive for some readers. This factor might be a drawback for more sensitive audiences, but I believe it’s exactly what makes this novel truly one in a million.

If you enjoy this couple and have some free time to read, I think you’ll enjoy it 100%—especially if you like slow-burn storytelling and zombie-themed fiction. The main characters also experience their own romances and breakups, leaving you intrigued between POVs; reading Dennis’s reconciliation while still wondering what will happen to Santos works as a magnetic hook throughout the novel.

I recommend reading it on a good device, comfortably settled into a couch, without any distractions.

Ultimately, WFHTDH stands out not just for its premise, but for the emotional depth it gives its characters, making every interaction feel meaningful and every decision carry weight. If you’re looking for a story that will stay with you long after you stop reading, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
