“ mikey hold still! “ you pleaded for about the third time; this only caused a larger retaliation from him. you’ve been trying to do his hair for about half an hour, but you couldn't get through detangling. “ i’m sorry, honey, but it hurts! “. you just finished an extensive hair wash. the shampooing, conditioning, detangling, and styling all took hours to complete, and michael admired every second of it. he’d always watch you at your vanity, seeing you style the ringlets upon your head with such care. so one day when he asked you if you “ could do his hair as you do it “ of course you agreed. that was before knowing how tender-headed this boy was. you worked the brush through his moustrised curls, trying your hardest to be gentle even with the most stubborn knots. now it was time for the styling. you began defining all the ringlets, piece by piece, as you twirled his hair across your finger. he just watched in the vanity as you worked your magic across his scalp. after the styling was complete, you let him very lightly pat around his head, feeling the defined strands between his fingers. “ this is amazing! “ he said, a smile stuck on his face. “ you like it? “ you beamed, in which he responded with an enthusiastic nod and a kiss to the temple. “ i love it, angel! “

໒꒱ he first laid eyes on you during a chanel show, which janet dragged him out to watch. the second you stepped onto the runway, he felt as if an angel had just looked him in the eyes

໒꒱ stuck around a little after the show, pleading janet to let him meet “ the pretty girl in the pearls “ in which she knew exactly who he was talking about

໒꒱ once you were finally free from talking to the other girls, janet approached you with michael shadowing behind her. michael must’ve forgotten that he’s michael jackson because when you noticed him, you were just as shocked as you were

໒꒱ for a girl whose whole career is modeling in front of crowds, you were just as nervous as michael was as you two stuttered over your words and barely looked each other in the eyes. janet just watched from the sidelines, face-planting as she watched her brother trying to talk for ten minutes

໒꒱ you eventually exchanged numbers and then suddenly almost every night was spent on the landline

໒꒱ it was your second date with him; you two had successfully snuck out without recognition and made your way to a cafe. that was also  the same day he became your boyfriend

໒꒱ sometimes it seemed as though he wasn’t even trying to be discreet, as whenever you’d walk out on the runway, you’d always notice a certain member of the crowd get a little more vocal

໒꒱ your job called for you to travel across the world; luckily, so did mike’s. so whenever his venue dates and your shoot days aligned, you’d be at his concert without a shred of a doubt

໒꒱ he would always tease you about being the girl on stage with him during the way you make me feel but both you and michael knew that if this idea were official, you’d both be ecstatic

summary : whilst in an interview, michael get’s asked about climbing trees. after explaining his admiration for his giving tree, he gets offered to go up there, and of course he does!

a/n : while writing this, i was rewatching the interview ofc, and i couldn’t stop giggling at michael sprinting to go climb the tree

“ you love climbing trees? “ bashir asked michael, who was strolling through the grass, holding a black umbrella in one hand to shield him from the sunlight, and the other hand held yours. “ yeah! i call this one my giving tree, as it’s inspired so many of my songs. i’ll look down upon the branches, and it’ll just give me so many ideas. black or white, childhood, heal the world, they were all written whilst up here “ he explained, as you looked up at him, listening intently. 

“ how far do you climb up the tree? “ bashir asked, looking at it. “ all the way up there “ michael pointed to a deck-like spot where he could comfortably sit, you knew that spot like the back of your hand of course, if you didn;t know where michael was at any given moment, you’d just look up and see him perched there, always making you giggle just a little bit.

“ would you like to climb up there? “ he offered, and without a second wasted, he responded with  “yeah! “ followed by him eagerly pulling you along with him as he made your way up to the tree. 

you adored the wilderness ever since you were a little girl. your parents would have practically begged you to come inside after a long day of being outside; you’d always refuse, of course. when asked about your love for nature, you never really could explain why. it could’ve been a serene place you always had to fall back on, a place to shield your ears from the world’s noise.

as you first began to climb the tree, excitement rushing through you as you navigated through the branches, michael following close behind as you both laughed. it was always an exciting time whenever you’d explore with michael, whatever it may be - and climbing trees was no exception. after bashir watched, slightly baffled in the courage two people can have to just climb a tree at the drop of a hat, michael offered him to come up, slightly knowing he wouldn’t. and to nobody’s surprise, declined quickly, knowing it would’ve ended in his face being crushed into the grass and the whole world laughing at him.

once up there, you and michael got seated next to each other, staring across the ranch and taking in the breathtaking view. you had the two things you loved, your husband and the beauty of nature, to go along with it. you two sat there in a shared silence, and after a while you looked down to see that bashir had walked away, but neither of you noticed, of course, too wrapped up in the beauty around you and next to you. 

you felt a large hand wrap around yours and kiss your knuckles, you responded with a soft smile, squeezing his hand. you stayed there for a bit, not speaking, but you didn’t really have to when it came to michael ; each others presence was enough.
