Valley of the dolls

There’s so much I want to say, but I don’t know where to start.

Maybe when I learn to breathe, we’ll finally be able to talk.

Circles made, circles broken;

I love midsummer. I love the smell of strawberries and flowers, and the handmade flower crowns my aunt makes for me every year. I still remember the feeling of the warm sun on my skin.

The sky never got fully dark, like it couldn’t decide what it wanted to be.

My favorite part of those days was dinner. Friends and family would gather around a table filled with food and pastries on the porch. The air was full of laughter and chatter.

After that, we’d all dance around the maypole, singing traditional Swedish songs, and afterwards we’d maybe go for a swim in the lake or ride our bikes through the countryside.

It already felt like something I’d miss later.

And I always find myself longing for it again every single year.
