The Sun and The Moon met in a world that only brought life ; with both being able to shine on their own, playing games with other forces in this world with no harm. Until, the Sun offered a game of life and death and asked the Moon to join this game.

He accepted the hand with a smile, and maybe a blush.

The Sun would always shine, the Moon knew this for as long as he existed. The Sun shines brightly, light cast upon the World ; upon the yellow sand they rested on as a base.

The Moon slowly fell for the Sun throughout the time ; moments he remember specifically : when he apologized for making it shine less, which he accepted the deal of until the Sun lost one of its lives, they would listen to the Moon ; when the Moon had it blood red light exposed, bringing flowers to ask that nothing changes of them, and the Sun accepted ; when they took the Ocean, Winter, and Lightning’s lives, how they cheer together.

However, the Moon never knew when it fell into codependency where instead of shining on his own ; the light that shined from him was the Sun’s as well. They felt the love from the Sun still, so the Moon ignored how it fell into the state it was. They were okay with this fate as the Moon, who shined brighter because of the Sun’s light, not noticing the shadows that were cast had begun to grow.

Once the game of life and death ended, the Moon shined as bright as it began out of the game ; the feelings of love grew for the Sun, with it staying even after the game’s fate. He had to rest the Sun’s anxiety to rest, assuring that he never held the ending fate against him.

The Sun asked him to join the second game of life and death ; the shadows slowly grew on him when he accepted the Sun’s hand with joy with a kiss as warm as the Sun was pressed on his face.

The Moon noticed how shadows were cast on him when he was no longer near the Sun ; choosing to join the Storm on a Mountain that they felt magic all around. They were only resting on him, not the Sun nor his friends ; the Darkness, Frost, Ocean, and Light. He ignored how they felt against him, giving into the game and the blood that came with it.

(If the Sun came and he felt the shadows creep in, but shined brightly, the Moon would never tell.)

When this game finished, he felt different.

The Moon felt the shadows all over his skin, with the Night, the only one to truly notice how it began to eat him. All the Night could say was to stay away from the Sun for his safety, and show a sad smile when the Moon assured that it was okay and the Sun did not mean to cast these shadows on him.

The Sun still shined as bright as it began, however, the Moon no longer shined as it used to. His light no longer was his own, the light was only the Sun’s. So, if he agrees to the next game of life and death because he realizes and wants his own light back, he never tells a soul.

(A kiss made the shadow grow more but the fire and love was a comforting warmth against his skin so he leaned into it.)

With this game of life and death, he feels his smile no longer tug on his lips around the Sun. Instead, feelings of abandonment and sadness filled his shadows as he sunk back into the Sun’s shadow as his soulmate.

The Moon’s feelings worsen as the Swamp, bonded to the Light, expressed that the Sun told them something deadly when he visited. Worse than the Sun already rejecting his Eclipse, his dear animals that made him smile despite the game dealing with life and death.

What his lover said to the loving pair, the Moon did not know.

He uses the flames to show others how destructive he is, and to feel the warmth kept away by the Sun. That he is not just the Sun’s lover and nothing less. He is still his own person even if he truly never felt it.

When the Sun tried to tell him he is overreacting to seeing him and the Forest together ; already someone a threat to his friends, the Swamp and Light, the Moon understood that his lover broke vows made.

He used the magic bounding him and the Sun to express his hidden resentment and feelings of abandonment by his lover.

Maybe why he was happy when the Forest was no longer in the game. However, those feelings disappeared when the Sun mourned him and not the relationship they still entangled themselves in.

When the Moon stared at the Sun, he didn't smile anymore and only said “I forgive you Grian.” Before joining the Star’s side to celebrate her bloody victory she earned in the game of Life and Death.
