Queen dick and balls uwu

It’s often that I find myself in a situation bc of the way I draw, take Val for example!

She has bad teeth, face hair, and a very sharp face/long nose. None of these things have anything to do with her gender identity/who she is… actually, she is cis in my mind (I don’t mind HC tho!!)

I designed her to be the most beautiful woman to ever live (in my eyes). She has long, dark hair… stripes are my fave, she has a realistic but cartoonish build that I love to draw! I have 100% the best intentions, she was designed to be sexy and beautiful. I gave her a blue color palette bc 1: it’s my fave color next to green and 2: it is a typically “masculine” color and I wanted to change my mind about that! Blue can be for girls too jeeeezzz

In my head, she is far from masculine, but I sometimes get the comments about her being a stereotype of some sort bc of “her masculinity”

She isnt masc at all! She wears traditionally feminine clothes, a full face of makeup, lipstick, heels, the whole deal… so why do people say this? I have a theory…

A lot of non-POC (and some POC) will equate features on black/brown women as masculine by default. This is because of the beauty standard and how a lot of it stems from racism. Straight blonde hair, pink, softness, childishness, and stupidity… bimbo culture, submissive tiny petite pale wife. That was what “feminine” meant to old racist pedophiles, but as time moves on and we progress… we know that isn’t true. For some reason, though, some of us (while trying to be just) accidentally perpetuate that old way of thinking.

It sucks, but it’s true if you think hard enough. Blackness has been associated as manliness, brownness the same. It is something I THANKFULLY never thought because my family is all Mexicans/black folk. I grew up with a great influence for art and beauty, so when I came to the internet I was a bit in a loop ab the way people see things compared to irl.

Long ramble, again I’m not black or brown so I have no actual say in this… but I see things from the other side and I think we need to make an effort to relearn what is ACTUALLY offensive. Valerie is NOT a caricature… she’s a beautiful realistic woman. Offensive features and racist features hve a very thin line between them, that line is love or hate.

I created her to be what I want to be as a woman… strong and beautiful… independent! She CAN make ugly faces, she CAN wear masculine clothing, but she is still a beautiful woman. Nothing changes that, not her race or her biological sex.
