Point&Counterpoint

Only a tiny, tiny handful of people in this country are actually rich. Those people own all the land ... all the mortgages ... all the loans ... all the banks ... the gas utilities ... the electric utilities ... the cell phone companies ... all the other companies ... the real estate ... and the politicians.

The REST of us vote over and over to cut taxes for these people so that we pay a much higher percentage of our income in taxes than they pay on their already sky-high incomes. Then when they want to kill unions, cut health insurance, cut payroll, and cut benefits, why we're all for it!! Multimillionaires and billionaires MUST make more money, or else it's "communism!"

So we work harder and longer for less and less, and they get more and more. Then we must pay our rent ... TO THE RICH. We must pay our car loan ... TO THE RICH. We much pay our student loans ... TO THE RICH. We must pay our utility bills ... TO THE RICH. Then we get too old and sick to live on our own anymore and need to move into a nursing home and we have to sell our house ... TO THE RICH.

Do you see any commonality here? In ALL THESE WAYS, all our money flows up and up and up and up the ladder ... TO THE RICH.

How and when does any money ever come back down to the average, regular, ordinary working person?? When this is the way we vote to run our economy ... IT DOESN'T. Then these same rich have so much money they outbid YOU for assets YOU need, and ... prices go up. That's yet MORE money flowing up and up the ladder ... TO THE RICH. And, because we don't have any money, when we need something like a car or a house or an education, we must borrow the money for it FROM THE RICH, and then we pay tons and tons and TONS of interest ... TO THE RICH.

Yet NO money must EVER flow back the other way. People mustn't get raises, that might hurt the rich. People mustn't get benefits, that might hurt the rich. Huge corporations mustn't be regulated or have to obey rules ... that might hurt the rich.

What happens when we run a society like this for forty years? Believing that first we must send women into the workforce, then we must empty our savings, then we must go to credit to afford the lifestyle ONE job used to pay for ... because we keep finding more and more ways to send everything everybody works for up the ladder ... TO THE RICH.

No money ever comes back down to us, that's what!!! Yet we believe we HAVE to do this, harder and harder and more and MORE or it's COMMUNISM!!! But we notice we're working harder and harder, and prices go up and up, and we're poorer and poorer.

But ... but ... giving everything we had to the rich, opening up every vein and bleeding every drop for the rich ... was supposed to make us all rich!!

What happened??
