PSA: If someone tells you to stop petting their dog because [insert reason], fucking listen and stop petting their dog.
Story time! My dog (a 10 week old German Shepard puppy) is training to be an epilepsy response dog to help me after Iâve had an epileptic seizure.
Because heâs training to be an assistance dog, he canât be stopped and stroked on the street. He shouldnât be distracted on the street, because soon heâll be a working dog, and being distracted by strangers could be life threatening.
People donât seem to heed the âI need spaceâ on his lead, and apparently think my dog is public property, and therefore can be pet by whomever whenever. Which leads to me having to correct people, and politely ask them to stop petting my puppy.
This leads to strangers giving me disgusted looks, telling me my dog has a terrible life, and even barking at my 10 week old puppy. All because I wonât let them pet my dog. My dog.
Today someone came up to my pup while I was taking him out for a wee, and distracted him by making baby sounds at him and running up to pet him. I politely told them that he was training to be an assistance dog, and canât be stroked.
The person who was petting my dog (who was trying to have a wee! Let him wee in peace!), stared at me incredulously, and scoffed. They kept petting my dog.
They looked at me, and at my dog, and said âHa, good one. Assistance dog.â Like I was joking. I pulled my dog away from their grabby goblin hands and repeated myself. They kept reaching towards my dog, until I had to raise my voice and tell them my dog wasnât their property and they needed to stop petting him, immediately. I took my dog and went back inside, and he didnât get to finish his wee.
This is what ignorance and ableism have created. I donât âlook disabledâ, so therefore Iâm lying about my dog being an assistance dog.
I need this dog. He doesnât have a terrible life, and he loves his owners and his family. He doesnât need some strangerâs affection because he gets sufficient amounts of love at home.
A stranger walking their dog doesnât mean you have the divine right to pet. Just because my dog is cute and outside doesnât mean you have the divine right to pet.
Leave me and my dog the fuck alone.

So ya know how anti-choice trashcans say "what if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of a fetus that gets aborted?"
But since fetuses already knowing advanced medical sciences arenât a thing, I figured Iâd provide some more valid alternatives:
What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who has a âblack soundingâ name and gets their school application thrown out?
What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who accidentally becomes pregnant where abortion is illegal or very difficult to access and they are forced to quit the sciences to raise the child?
What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of a fat person whose credibility in the medical field is destroyed because they are assumed to be âunhealthyâ and a hypocrite?
What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of a person who starves to death?
What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who is murdered by drones or police?
What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who is raped and cannot continue their research due to trauma?
What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who is killed in a shooting because some below average teen boy couldnât get laid?
I mean if you wanna talk about real life actual things that prevent scientific advancement look no further than capitalism, misogyny, ableism, racism, violence, oppression. But I guess that doesnât allow you to control peopleâs bodies and push your gross agenda.
This shit needs a million reblogs
⨠ABORTION IS A VALID OPTION PASS IT ON â¨
I. Breaking up: If you are in abusive relationship, leave. If you canât tell whether or not youâre in an abusive relationship, leave. If you arenât happy, leave. If youâre happy but you could be happier, leave. If he threatens to kill himself if you leave, leave. Youâre not heartless, youâre just trying to save the one you have. If your parents donât like him, theyâre probably onto something. If he cheats on you, leave. If he cheats on you but promises to change, leave. If he doesnât treat you right, leave. If you feel uncomfortable, leave. If he does something wrong, give him the chance to fix it. If he doesnât, leave. If your feelings change, leave. Love is not always reason enough to stay. II. Moving on: to put it simply, itâs hard as fuck. It takes forever and aches all the time. Thereâs nothing you can do about it, all there is to do is hurt. You just have to hurt for awhile and eventually the pain subsides. Donât be a cliche. Drinking doesnât really numb the pain it just makes you cry and text him that you miss him and then cry harder when he ignores you. Cutting doesnât help either. Pain is temporary, scars make it permanent. Donât you fucking dare wear your sixteen-year-old heartache on your wrists for the rest of your life. Delete his number and all the pictures on your phone. Unfollow him on instagram and unfriend him on facebook and do not watch his fucking snapchat stories. When he gets a new girlfriend, try not to let it break you, okay? Sheâs not prettier than you. III. Sex: Have it. Or donât. It doesnât matter if youâre a virgin at 16 or 36. It doesnât matter if all your friends are doing it. There is no number that coincides with the loss of your virginity. People will tell you that losing your virginity doesnât matter. Thatâs not true. The truth is that it doesnât define you. But it does matter. Not because it means something important or because it changes you or the way people see you, just because itâs an emotional thing and itâs really fucking personal. And no, you donât have to have sex with someone youâre in love with, but you do have to be comfortable. And you have to want it. Youâll know when youâre ready because you wonât have to question it, and itâs okay to not be ready for awhile. Donât do it because your boyfriend is begging, if he pressures you, refer back to âI.â If it hurts, stop. Use protection. Itâs not what you see in the movies and itâs definitely not what you see in porn. If you get sexually abused, go to the police. He canât touch you like that and get away with it. Youâre allowed to say no. Youâre allowed to change your mind. You donât owe anybody anything and it doesnât matter how fucking short your goddamn skirt is or how drunk you are. IV. Your body: Youâre probably not going to like it very much. Youâre going to hate the way your tummy looks when you sit down. Youâll stand in front of the mirror and suck in. Youâll hate the way your thighs rub together and the little bumps you get from it. Youâll manage to find something wrong with everything, your left boob is bigger than your right, one of your eyes squints a little more when you smile, your hands are too small. People will tell you to love yourself and to be body positive. No one really acknowledges that itâs not that fucking easy. Learning to love yourself isnât the same as learning geometry, thereâs no textbook or answer key or teacher. There are going to be things that you hate about yourself that you learn to love and there are going to be things that you hate about yourself that youâll always hate and that is okay. Fix the things you can fix. If you hate your nose, get a nose job. If you want to lose weight, go to the gym and eat healthy. if youâre sick of your hair, change it. Change the things you can change and accept the things you canât. By the way, everyone has stretch marks and cellulite, they just donât talk about it. V. Other things to remember: If youâre gay, youâre not obligated to come out. You donât have to tell your parents. Live your life and love who you love. It is nobody else's business. There is no such thing as âgirl code.â If you and your best friend like the same boy and he wants you, youâre allowed to be with him. You need to put yourself first and do what makes you happy. Donât put boys above your friends but donât put your friends above your happiness. Try really hard in school. I mean it. You will thank yourself later. You donât have to have a relationship with your parents, sharing blood with someone doesnât give them the right to treat you like shit. Donât keep toxic people in your life, itâs okay to cut them out. Do what is best for you. Donât drink to black out, itâs dangerous and itâs not fun. None of the bad stuff lasts. Youâll be fine.

Sometimes you just gotta look in the mirror and say yes, I am trash. But I'm high quality trash and that's what matters.
Paul Ryanâs latest Instagram post reveals a major problem with political representation
On Saturday, House Speaker Paul Ryan snapped a selfie with a large â and largely homogenous â pool of Capitol Hill interns and posted it to Instagram. In light of the pictureâs racial makeup, his caption struck many users as somewhat tone deaf. Unfortunately, the photo reflects the very white reality of Capitol Hill.
Update:Â House Speaker Paul Ryan released a remarkably white selfie Sunday with Capitol Hill interns. Now, writer and journalist Colleen Mondor just offered the perfect response.
It goes beyond race, gender and ability. The DNC interns are just as diverse in their pursuits, interest and backgrounds.Â
Update:Â Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, a congresswoman from Texas, just took this to the next level by showing the Democratic Interns working at the Capital.Â
Johnson isnât the only person to point out the striking difference between the two classes of interns.
