Yeeeah, this “jumping to conclusion” thing is a quirk of the English-speaking fandom space and it unfortunately isn’t going away anytime soon. Fans have often assumed quality and intentions when the content hasn’t even been put out yet (most notably with GloMasq during its initial release).

I haven’t had the chance to play LitB with Baymax myself yet (been busy!) so I had a friend grab these screencaps and explain the situation to me. Basically, Idia and Ortho aren’t in this event because, like I had predicted in my initial posts, it would resolve the conflicts way too easily.

As I understand it, there is a robot battle in the shady alleyways and streets; the boys lie and enter Grim as a robot. Could you imagine what would happen if they entered Ortho, who is equipped with a DEATH LASER??? It’d be so over for the other competitors.

“But the books change the clothes they’re in!”, “Nightmare 2 proves the book can assign Ortho a non-lethal Gear!” True, true. But let’s look at example 2, which rules out ALL Ignihyde students.

It gets to a point in the story where the group has to manufacture a robot strong enough to defeat the reigning robo-champ, as it is it blocking their route home. The plan is to engineer parts to upgrade Baymax into a fighter. Rook explicitly points out that it would be useful if they had an Ignihyde student, as they excel in technomantic engineering.

In other words, Idia and Ortho may have been intentionally excluded from this event roster because otherwise they would be solving the primary conflict of this event way too quickly. (We’re only at the halfway point of the event.)

zhsnvwjwjwkd I don’t know how many times the Twst fandom has to go through another case of the fans negatively overreacting based on the smallest scraps of information before we learn our lesson and wisen up 😔

So much research will have to be redone because the data was absolutely compromised, off by orders of magnitude, by using standard lab gloves.

The world is probably not horrifically contaminated by microplastics. Sterile laboratories, however, are contaminated by latex and nitrile gloves.

The researchers emphasize that this does not mean microplastics are not a real problem.

“We may be overestimating microplastics, but there should be none,” said McNeil, senior author of the study and U-M professor of chemistry, macromolecular science and engineering, and the Program in the Environment. “There’s still a lot out there, and that’s the problem.”

The answer is a lot. Especially in Witch Hat Atelier, where a person's hands are a representation of their entire identity.

Hands are especially instrumental to a magic system built around drawing sigils, so it makes sense for them to get extra attention through storyboarding and animation, but the crew at the impeccably named studio Bug Films took it to a new level, giving hands a leading role in their visual storytelling, even beyond what's in the original manga.

The theme is practically stated outright when the magic cops come to erase Coco's memory and Easthies examines her hand to see if she's a terrorist, but finds only the calouses and ink stains of a novice apprentice, literally learning her identity by looking at her hand.

But it goes so far beyond that too. A few minutes earlier when he first appeared, his own hand dominates the frame across these three cuts by key animator Taichi Hattori (服部 汰一) and storyboard artist and episode director Hiroshi Seko (瀬古浩司) uses it to frame Coco and Agott's faces, encroching further and filling more of the frame with each cut and leaving the girls less and less space.

But nowhere are hands more central than Qifrey's secret confrontation with the Brimmed Hat, and this 15-second-long close-up on where the camera tracks his hand as it stretches close to Dr. Eyeball, even intermingling with the almost finger-like tassles at the bottom of the robe and hangs there in anticipation for a tantalizing ten frames,

Only for the tassles to dematerialize just as he tries to grab them, and having exhausted its last bit of energy, Quifrey's hand collapses to the ground, now animated on 1's, and the camera stays locked on to this close-up.

After a brief pause in defeat, Qifrey starts to drag his hand back towards himself and it gradually forms back into a fist and rotates toward the camera for the first time as he swears not to give up. Only then do we return to a wide shot.

That's the main chunk of it, but there's an entire mini-narrative here that plays out almost exclusively through hands. There's some dialogue, but this scene would honestly work just as well without it, maybe better!

My nephew is very allergic to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. Last year my sister discovered all hot dogs and hamburger buns now contain sesame. Not "may contain", but listed in the ingredients. This year basically every brand of sliced bread also now contains sesame, making it very difficult to find bread items he can eat.

They're just adding it to their products, so they can just list it as an ingredient and not bother with worrying about cross contamination. And they aren't even bothering with telling anyone. Capitalism is going to kill us all.

This is from the end of ch 95 btw.

In this frame, he states that he’s taking the girls on a field trip. (In the English translation), he even calls himself their master! To me, this is not the vibe of a man who would not admit that he loves teaching.

Of course, the argument can be made that this is later in the manga, and recent events have shifted his perspective on the matter. However, there’s a panel from the same chapter at the top (39) that, in my eyes, reveals the real reason.

Here, Jujy has asked him why he wouldn’t take on an apprentice, and he says this:

Now, it’s important to note here that Olly is a Watchful Eye. And for all the skirting his job that he does do, there are instances where he puts his foot down. His debut wasn’t Like That ™ for nothing.

For several reasons (his childhood and being a prodigy, Qifrey’s shitfuckery against the Brims), he is quite pro-Pact. (Not to the levels of someone in the KM, say, but I’d say he’s one of the most conservative members of Qifrey’s Atelier). And I believe that’s what’s being referenced here.

And here comes the theory segment:

I believe that this is about to change in the coming arc. He’s facing dragons, he’s without Qifrey, tensions are rising, and people, including the atelier fam, are beginning to have doubts in the current PH system. I think something is going to happen in this arc that disproves what he said in 39.

And I don’t think he’ll be the only one.

I theorise as well that Agott is also going to slowly start to question and doubt the current system, but I think that for her, this will take longer.
