Daphne Sinclair Final Film - “No Dogs” Project

Crit Version and Final Animation: Final Exports from “No Dogs” Project 

A Shot list I designed for us to follow during the production of this film. I would change the day of filming as a target line for what backgrounds needed to be done when. 

This is the Crit Version hand in with all edits and credits. 

This is the final edit based on the file that was given to us at the start of the project.  The original track had a great narrative but it was difficult to get the emotion across when there were lots of gaps in the points that Daphne was talking about so Ishan cut out sections to make the audio flow and end better. Additional sound effects we gathered and edited by all three of us. 

This is the example of shots with the 2D animated faces by Sueli, Ishan and I. The main problem was the difference in style, Sueli managed to match her style well with my drawings but the final look had quite a few differences in it and didn’t seem to work as well as the animation did without them altogether. I’d be happy to cut these 2D elements altogether if the client is happy to drop them. 

Still images from the final film without faces. We included very limited 2D animation to correct some sequences. The steps needed highlights as the paint came out too dark at the start. I wanted Paper assets for the Doctor such as stethoscope, moustache and glasses but the digital version seems to sit well enough that it doesn’t look artificial compared to the rest of the film. We decided to darken the night shot digitally only to avoid have to re do the screen if the comp didn’t work well. 

This is a clip showing how the 2D animation would work with the Stop motion cut outs. Editing was done to create the 2D animation by Sueli, Ishan and I to make it look like it was part of the paper. This might be something the client is interested in but didn’t look great when not fully used throughout the animation.
