Finally posting another NCR OC. One I've been rotating a lot - So going to yap about him and where he fits in with my personal FNV story, and with Six.
Ranger Goose has spent his life in a state of constant warfare, never staying in one place for long. He joined the Desert Rangers in 2260, and finally found his place among them, seeing the organization as the closest thing to his ideal society - one staunchly against evils like slavery and strong enough to hunt down raider gangs, while still allowing for an environment where people can be free to live as they choose.
While he views the NCR as corrupt and imperialistic, he was nonetheless absorbed into their ranks during the Unification Treaty. No matter his negative feelings on the NCR as a whole, he will stand shoulder to shoulder with them to stand against the Legion, and fought at the First Battle for Hoover Dam with the NCR Rangers.
Due to his experience, he would sometimes be sent new potential rangers to train, which he ensured would be as brutal as possible. This didn't make him many friends, until one of these ranger recruits, a young man from Shady Sands, earned his respect. Also including the art of the amazingly talented @yulnik -
Ranger Eight officially earned the title in 2280, after two years under Goose's tutelage. Finally able to undergo solo missions, Eight began his service to the NCR and the people of the Mojave as a Ranger.
In 2281, he was dispatched on a recon mission to the eastern front, but lost radio contact and seemingly went missing. Eight never returned from this deployment, but his armor did. Through reports from the field, Goose learns that Eight's armor is being worn by mailman of some repute who people call Courier Six. Goose goes to the NCR immediately to demand for the detainment and questioning of the Courier, but doesn't get the results he wants...
The NCR at this point takes a sort of "enemy of my enemy" approach to the Courier. While he's not officially affiliated with the NCR, he (and Boone) do kill a loooottttt of Legion, so Goose's demands requests go ignored.
His goals now are a few things. Find out what happened to Eight, recover his armor (and his body if the worst is true), and if he it turns out that it was the Courier who killed him - take revenge.
