opened up ravelry to look at patterns and the very first thing i saw was
The Garment by Robert Cole
went to read the Ravelry and that was such a treat:
Let the Garment envelop you; experience its heft and splendor. The original Garment pattern was knit in the round, from the bottom up, and designed for someone six feet in height. A simple adjustment of the number of stitches you cast on will allow you to customize the length. Follow The Garment on Instagram: @HeftAndSplendor Update, Aug 9, 2026: Many thanks for all the Garment enthusiasm in recent days! In response to sensible feedback, I’m developing and testing two alternate versions of the pattern: one for children, and the other a top-down version. I’m not entirely sure why I chose to make the first The Garment bottom-up—it almost certainly makes more sense for sizing, etc., to make it top-down—although I will say that casting on 300 stitches for the bottom of a The Garment feels like quite a leap of faith into the great unknown. In any case, both new versions of the pattern will be included in the update and sent to everyone who’s already bought the original pattern.
The pattern for the Garment costs only five usd so if you are a knitter and you want to make something beautiful and baffling, there you go. I do almost want to learn to knit so I can make the Garment.
(Also there's more pictures of people wearing the Garment at the Ravelry page and they're all FANTASTIC.)
The Enigma of Amigara Fault
This short story by Junji Ito is about a fault that appears in Amigara mountain after an earthquake. The earthquake exposes countless human-shaped holes in the mountain which seem to have been made about a thousand years ago. People, intrigued by these silhouettes, gather at the site and that’s when things get creepy.
It’s about a 15-20 min read, but if you haven’t read this before, you’re in for a treat. Link above.
i mean it’s not like i can just NOT reblog amigara fault. what if one of my followers is one of the lucky ten thousand who HASN’T been unutturably altered for life by it yet? go read it! it’s creepy, but trust me, it was made for you.
the enemy drank water today. did you?
i drank water three days ago. im several steps ahead of the enemy. this is what it takes to win

Unless you were a tech at NASA back in the day, when one time some hydrogen a) escaped in a particular building, and b) caught on fire. This was extremely difficult because hydrogen does NOT burn on the visible spectrum humans evolved to see (and flee). Rather, it technically does, but it’s so pale that in practice, no one could see it. Additionally, pure hydrogen burns without smoke and with so little ambient heat that you can’t really sense it till you walk into it. So, per the lore, for a few days all the techs in that building just walked around brandishing brooms in front of them like lances. If your broom lit on fire, congrats! You have located more burning hydrogen! Do not proceed!
oh my god it’s real and it was LITERALLY called “the broom method” holy shit

new compliment just dropped
turns out "everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of this fear" is a great trans mantra but also a good mantra if you have OCD
Also a cool thing to say out loud before picking up a sword!!!!!
Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.
Companies in the 2000s: You wouldn't download a car! Digital copies are still stealing, even if the original copy remains with us.
Companies in the 2020s: That digital copy, which you have paid for, doesn't really belong to you. We're removing it from your library now.
Companies deleting media you've literally purchased is 1000x more realistically "stealing" than digital piracy, you cannot change my mind
biig fan of the slight difference in chant that reflects upon the person being ressurected, cauls "troubles not won" vs doggeds "fight not won" and what that says about their moment of death and subsequent revival,,

It is kind of funny to bring in the idea that nominative determinism might be real in a world where people are naming kids stuff like Sack-Of-Shit Jones
Ep5 of Our Wars Have Ended really kicked me in the gut with that beautiful setup and payoff at the end with Morel begging the Voice of the Mountain to give Dogged back to him so he could talk to her one last time.
The entire episode is Morel trying and failing to prevent Dogged from being humiliated in death, while willfully ignoring the fact that it is entirely his fault that Dogged died in the first place. His paranoia over Timmer possibly resurrecting Dogged leads to her being forcefully resurrected anyway.
And then, after insisting that he's saving her from being "brought back" for the entire episode, Morel ends up begging for the Mountain to bring Dogged back for his comfort, and the narrative itself tells him no, she won't come back for him, because he is the one who killed her.
