Back when the season was airing I sketched out a basic map to help myself keep things straight, but it turned out to have all kinds of errors. So, I made this one based on cross-referencing wide shots from across the season to be as accurate as possible!
Some notes:
arrow directions (save 23 & 24) are based on watching characters enter or leave the village when visiting that location (episode listed in brackets) and are therefore rough estimates
directions 23 & 24 (lake & cabin) are based on my overall sense of the wilderness from nat's map in s2
coach's cave and the pit being in opposite directions was surprising to me, he must have gone in a WIDE circle to avoid the village on his way to and from the pit! it makes sense though (based on the pilot) that the pit would be in the general direction of the plane crash
because the placement of the huts lines up reasonably well from multiple estimated camera angles, I'm pretty confident the placement of each hut isn't off by more than a meter or so
the creek here is flowing right to left across the screen! I think it's interesting that the lake is upstream from the village, I would've assumed the creek flows into the lake but based on this layout it seems more likely the creek is an outflow of the lake
in the show the trees on the east of camp (by the bend in the creek) are MUCH taller and thicker than I've shown, especially around travis's shelter. I shortened them just so they wouldn't be covering half the village
tree placement is mainly vibes because I'm not THAT nuts lol
I made this in blender with a bunch of free vegetation assets from the internet (thank you polyhaven!). no genAI used!

Gonna step outside my usual programming a bit because that light pollution take and a lot of the responses to it aggravated me so much.
No, wanting to see the night sky isn't a twee retvrn to ghibli-ass take. It's not a matter of some anprim impulse to dismantle industrial society for ~nature aesthetics~, it's an extremely visible symptom of environmental degradation that gets downplayed because the externality seems trivial to most people: "Oh no, the night sky, what ever will we do without it."
But it actively disrupts light-sensitive circadian rhythms in plants and wildlife, which disrupts foraging patterns, reproductive and hibernation cycles, and contributes to wildlife population declines. It's not the major contributor to those declines, but it's an additional point of stress in an ecosystem already stressed by climate change and other forms of industrial pollution. And so much of it is wholly unnecessary.
I don't think people realize how far-reaching the problem is, either. That light isn't just confined to the places people use. You don't escape it by just taking the bus to the edge of town. That light carries, in some cases for hundreds of kilometers. Death Valley has some of the darkest skies in the US, and yet, the dome of light above Las Vegas is visible on the horizon over 250 km away! Anywhere within 50 km of a major urban center, just about anywhere in the world, never gets darker than a night under a full moon.
And this is very much a recent problem too. Before the switchover to LEDs, it was relatively expensive to light places. That meant actually accounting for the energy use and making sure it was being used where it was needed. That light was also warm-colored, so it didn't travel as far. With the decreased cost of lighting, it became standard to light places like daytime whenever they might be needed. Lighting didn't get safer, it just got more thoughtless.
The reason you see astronomy-types sounding the alarm most loudly is because they're the ones who have been seeing the full effects of light pollution and its encroachment on dark skies. It's a hobby for me too, but it's partly because I am a night owl who grew up in a small town with nothing else to do. I used to be able to clearly see the Milky Way horizon to horizon when I grew up in the mid-00s. The last time I visited about five years ago, I could only see it overhead. The population has fallen by like 10%, but the skies are brighter. I can tell when the college decided to leave the football stadium lights overnight. I can tell where the car dealerships that added overnight display lights are. I can even see when trucks with the fuckass LED light bars are coming over a hill from 5 km away.
I'm all for well-lit, safe, and accessible spaces for people to work and play at night. But there is an impact from lighting, and it can and should be regulated like any other point source pollution. It's a pretty straightforward and materialist assessment. But go off about the big scary anprims are coming for your society so people can see the stars I guess, that's not at all a reactionary response to hearing about a problem
#also a lot of the time the solution to light pollution is so stupidly easy it should be a no brainer to do it#like using more directional shades on streetlights#or different color lights instead of bright white#like#you do not actually have to live in the dark all the time to mitigate this problem!!#this is easier than fixing the ozone and we did that!
Okay, but that's an important point! Don't leave the important point in tags!

So I thought y'all would like this too
This great white comes to the jersey shore every year and this year they named her and have been tracking her hella so this is Mary Lee and she decided to show herself under this rainbow for pride month
A true gay icon
I think it's a fun detail in Yellowjackets that Shauna loves to surround herself with rainbows without ever directly acknowledging them, mirroring the way that in both timelines to date she's completely refused to confront her obvious feelings for Jackie (and this is despite actually having a girlfriend in the wilderness!)
Let's go through them! In the pilot, she has a rainbow scarf in her room featuring basically the exact sequence of 8 colors as the original 1978 pride flag:
101.96, in Shauna's room. Interestingly, her room does not have a closet! Her clothes, scarf included, are right there in the open.
Shauna also has two rainbow stickers on/around her vanity, buried among the many pictures of her with Jackie:
Tangent: Jackie has a version of that party photo in the top right, but in her version she and Shauna are farther apart, more friendly and less couple-y. Very interesting that Shauna displays this one, while Jackie chose the other; it's consistent with the idea that Jackie is MUCH more intentionally closeted than Shauna, and wants to present that way for Jeff and her parents.
I'm a little torn on how aware Shauna is at this point... I get the sense from the pilot (and an interview with the showrunners that I've unfortunately lost track of) that something has recently changed between Shauna and Jackie. Jackie gets back with Jeff and decides to sleep with him, which Shauna seems to find sudden, and I could see that change being Jackie's reaction to Shauna testing the waters or even coming out to her, but I could also see it as more along the lines of Jackie realizing some feelings on her end, panicking, and deciding to end their "slumber party makeouts" (assuming those were a real thing). Or it could be both!
Regardless, I do think at least Shauna's subconscious is aware of her feelings, because the episode after she finally kisses a girl (and the same episode where she basically agrees to date said girl), Jackie shows up in a dream to kill her with a rainbow bracelet:
303.97, in the shared dream
Finally, the rainbows continue in the present day even when Shauna is arguably much more repressed/closeted out of guilt and grief—her keychain in seasons 2 & 3 has two strings of six rainbow beads:
203.21, at the chop shop
308.22, outside Melissa's house
Whereas for season 1: this is the clearest picture of her keys I could find, and as far as I can tell the beads are NOT there, which is very interesting. It makes sense that as she starts slipping out of the grief-prison of a life she's constructed for herself, the rainbows would start coming back!
102.21, just before she hits Adam's car
Now maybe I'm reading into all this too much and it's just as simple as "Shauna is a gaywad (RIP Mari) and always has been so of course there are rainbows around her," but like I said I do think it's fitting that they're both so present and so overlooked.
In 207.21, when all the Yellowjackets are sitting around talking at Lottie's compound, Natalie asks how much they all remember from out there. Shauna says "If I'm repressing things I don't know about, I am very okay with never figuring it out," to which Lottie responds "Yeah, that's fair, but they always end up manifesting in some way, don't they?" Maybe Shauna really is trying to remain unaware of herself, and this is one small way it ends up manifesting.

i want to make a show and actually do the thing where you have a bad ending on purpose and then drop hints and actually give the people a new secret episode. just so they can have a taste and never give up being crazy
im just so happy i live in a time period where actual meaningful biological transition is possible. even if we lose rights or the ability to exist in public, nothing can turn back the clock on that, and just by having any sort of access to that our lives are made immensely better. millions of our sisters throughout history would never have dreamed of a day where they could have what HRT does for us.
please don't lose the plot of this. if you're a trans person on HRT you're a living miracle, the dream of hundreds of millions of your ancestors. your lives are all deeply meaningful no matter what anyone says.
Cursed be the one who announced to my father:
“It’s a boy!"...
...How could he twist the course of the stars so much?
How could he have erred so in his astrology?
A lying tongue, a fool’s mouth it had given him
For he foolishly transformed justice to poison
He altered the law and transposed the lines
Oh, but had the artisan who made me created me instead – a worthy woman...
...I would say "how lucky am I"
Father in heaven
who did miracles for our ancestors with fire and water...
...Who would then transform me from a man to woman?
Were I only to have merited this being so graced by goodness...
What shall I say?
why cry or be bitter?
If my father in heaven has decreed upon me
and has maimed me with an immutable deformity
then I do not wish to remove it.
the sorrow of the impossible is a human pain that nothing will cure
and for which no comfort can be found.
So, I will bear and suffer until I die and wither in the ground.
Since I have learned from our tradition
that we bless both, the good and the bitter
I will bless in a voice hushed and weak:
blessed are you [HaShem] who has not made me a woman.
