The Last California Bear I am currently working on a project illustrating the stories of animals who were the last of its species. A sad warning. This is the last Californian bear. Said to be the largest of all brown bears. Hunted to death during the gold rush. The last was said to be caught in a publicity stunt and lived out his days in a cage. He now survives on the flag of California.
