Taking Flight There were a number of first sightings for me when it came to the animals of Samburu National Wildlife preserve. This is a white throated bee eater. As their name suggests, they capture and eat insects, including bees, wasps, and hornets. Like flycatchers, they capture their prey in mid-flight, hunting from an open perch. Also, like flycatchers, they frequently return to the same or one of several branches, making it possible to capture them on take-off or landing.
