Honestly as far as parasites go leeches are really polite and do not deserve the reputation they have. Other parasites will straight fuck you up but leeches are like “ok I am just going to take some blood and then drop right off. I will be hella gentle when I bite so u don’t notice. ok thank goodbye” and people still act like they’re horrible eldritch monsters that will slurp you dry like no they’re just some guys. Ticks will bury their heads into your skin and stay on you for like a week and give you a chronic debilitating disease on top of that but no one makes evil ticks as their video game antagonists
