We were talking in Bible study about Paul’s commands that women are to teach and disciple other women, and how our modern day sensibilities take offence at a perceived slight that women aren’t allowed to teach men, rather than focusing on the revolutionary in its cultural and historical context idea that women are capable of teaching and discipling in the first place, unheard of in its Greco-Roman context, not to mention the fact that it’s a safeguard to protect women, as discipleship inherently involves vulnerability and openness, so it’s definitely best kept between genders.
