Here's your Leoruggie ma'am/sir!

Are they fine with it, are they against him, happy someone even likes Leona, sceptical because he is a Hyena?

Besides Cheka who probably loves hanging out with Ruggie, I have some trouble imagine their reaction. Expelly their relationship.

Would be funny if they learn to know him & are like "Leona, if you don't marry this man we will adopt him as our son"

I think that at first they don't want him anywhere near Leona because they have a horrible image of hyenas (from the way Ruggie talks seems that Leona's unbothered attitude towards hyenas is extremely rare specially in the upper echelons), and the animosity goes both ways, Ruggie also hates them, partially bc of his dislike of the monarchy and partially for how Leona has been treated by them. Cheka is the exception of course, as much of a jerk Ruggie can be I doubt he can truly hate a kid, and Cheka loves the new uncle who knows so many fun games and is so nice to him, he had been worried at first that Ruggie would take all of Leona's time and attention but actually he now spends more time with his unca thanks to Ruggie dragging Leona along.

As time passes and they get to interact more and more the hostility starts to die down. The Kingscholars see that Ruggie and Leona truly love each other and are good for one another. They're also confronted with their perception and prejudices of spotted hyenas, specially with Leona and Ruggie's work in the slums. Ruggie on the other hand starts seeing the Kingscholars as actual people not as just state figures, and although he doesn't really lose his dislike towards monarchy as a system, he does gain a more nuanced view of it and does try to find ways to better the system (or at the very least make the royals more grounded to the actual reality of the people).

Once the mutual dislike has finally died down completely, the Kingscholars are so happy that Leona is with Ruggie, and thank the Seven and any deity in existence that Ruggie's thick-skinness, shamelessness and stuborness made him look pass Leona's prickly and unpleasant attitude, because they really are perfect for each other. Leona's been told multiple times how lucky of a man he is much to his chagrin (he is more than aware of it, thanks).

Ruggie, now in good terms with Leona's family, does still sometimes think how weird it is for someone from the slums to be where he is now. Leona tells him to stop worrying about it.

A lot of the haters makes it impossible to ship Leona with anyone who isn’t Vil or Malleus (I don’t hate those two ships, I just really like Leona and I want to ship him with a lot of the other characters like Ruggie, Jamil, Jack, etc.)

For sure, no. My bet is the influx of "fans" (tourists really) from the pandemic.

Fandom, as a space, in general has gotten worse since the pandemic (that's not me saying that before that it was all sunshines and rainbows ofc), but there is a not so small portion of people that joined fandoms bc it is trendy and not bc they actually enjoy the thing, that's why I used the term tourists bc they aren't here for the community nor the work but to fit in with what's popular at the moment. They disregard even the most basic of fandom etiquette and want it to adapt to them.

Add to it the wave of anti-intellectualism and puritanism (you can have standards and red lines obviously, but there's been an over-policing even towards the mildest most inocuous shit, to the point were you see people (mostly kids) asking permission to like things, which I hadn't seen anything like that before), and yeah... it's not looking good...

(I'm also pretty sure that this kind of people are the ones who have always looked down upon anything that can be considered a nerdy interest/hobby but bc now it's popular they act like they discovered it and no one knows better than them. Anime in general is my example for this, before the pandemic you were considered weird for liking it and could be bullied for this, but now you see people who acted like this gushing over anime and denying how it used to be)

He would be like Ruggie in book 2 but like 10 times worse. Both dream Ruggies take the "turn the world on its head" to heart, but while the other one wants a positive change in general, this one doesn't care much if the change is bad for others if it benefits Leona and him in the end.

Obviously he still cares a lot about Leona and wants him to be happy (he acts closer to the other blot in this way), but doesn't care about seeing Leona improve so he lets him fall into his worse habits and indulge in them. He will make sure Leona gets his way one way or another.

If the other dream Ruggie takes more of the critical and constructive part of Ruggie, this one takes after his more apathetic and jaded part, they're kinda the angel and devil on Leona's shoulders, lmao

Of course this one will not aid Yu and co, on the contrary it's gonna be a huge obstacle, not much bc of his strength but because he's tricky and underhanded. But thankfully they also got a Ruggie on their side, the real one (which should give them a bit of an advantage? maybe?) The plan ends up being which Ruggie has the most dishonorable schemes and can go the lowest. The others are amazed and disgusted at the display. Azul is the only one who's impressed by it and not disgusted.

It does work and they get dream Ruggie backed into a corner, who now desperate, gets Leona to go deeper into the dream.

I don't know if someone already asked that but what are your thoughts about Grandma Buchi?

And what do you think her thoughts are about Leoruggie and expelly Leona, the second prince?

I can just imagine that she would not be that happy for Ruggie to date someone from the Royal family, expelly after what happened in book 2!

Hi! I wanna meet her and see her canon design already!

I do have some headcanons. Like Ruggie takes a lot after her both in personality and appearance, although she tends to take a more direct approach and when she was younger used to get into fights more often than Ruggie does. Also unlike Ruggie, she doesn't hide her mouth behind her hand when she laughs. She was a huge troublemaker when she was young (and she never hides this fact), so she doesn't mind when Ruggie gets into trouble himself, she only minds it if he can't get out of it himself (she's the kind of guardian who doesn't care if you get into a fistfight, she cares if you have won or not).

She brought up Ruggie to be as independent and self-reliant as possible, which is the norm in the Graveyard, so she mostly taught him the basics and gave Ruggie a long leash for him to try things out, think by himself and find solutions for the problems he encounters and of course fail and succeed, while he knows that he can always come to her for tips and advice. In a few things she was more hands on with teaching, like cooking and magic. I headcanon that neither of Ruggie's parents were mages, but Grandma is so she was her magic teacher, mostly bc magic is more dangerous so she wanted to drill into his head proper safety with it.

Both she and Ruggie are very protective of each other, while they know that the other can take care of themselves, that doesn't mean that they don't worry, they're the only blood-realted family they got left after all.

And my last headcanon I have is that she uses a lot of pet names and nicknames.

As for how she would react to Leona and Ruggie dating him, well I highly doubt that she has anything positive to say about the monarchy, but Leona's probably one of the members of the royal fmily she hates the least (bc he's young and not in power), but after hearing Ruggie talk about him, she sees Leona in a more positive light and gets curious about him and kinda wants to meet the prince who gained the trust her untrusting and wary grandson. She still doesn't like the Kingscholars as a whole, she just dislikes Leona way less than the others.

When she's told about book 2 (probably by the NRC, bc Ruggie for sure was meaning to take this to his grave, he doesn't want to make his granny worry), all the good faith she had for Leona dissipates, but then why the fuck is her grandson dating the guy who almost killed him?? After she takes a few to calm down, she figures that there must be something more to the story, because it doesn't make sense for her grandson who's so untrusting and uninterested in romance to date his almost-killer, so she calls him and asks (demands) for him to come home the next free day with Leona in tow. Ruggie is kinda scared for Leona so he tells him (orders) to be in his best behaviour and be completely honest with his grandma. Leona knows how much Ruggie cares for his grandma so he does as he's told, for once.

When they arrive at the Bucchi's home, after she has hugged her grandson, Grandma Bucchi sends Ruggie to do errands bc she wants to talk to Leona alone. For the next hour or so, she basically interrogates Leona mostly about the fiasco of book 2 and what he thinks about Ruggie, to which Leona answers as honestly as he can per Ruggie's instructions. This talk does bring down the hostility she had for Leona as she sees that he's actually remorseful. She still hates him, but not as much. (Ruggie gets to eavesdrop in the last third of the conversation). Afterwards she sent Leona to mingle with the rest of the hyenas, so she can talk with Ruggie and get his side of the story. After listening to him, she sees where he's coming from and while she still doesn't trust Leona she's willing to him him a chance. She also reminds Ruggie that she's got his back and that if Leona ever does something she's gonna take care of it. Ruggie promises her that she'll never have to do it because he knows that the interdorm fiasco was the exception, not the norm.

She will come around eventually, with time (in years time), and accept fully Leona to their family. She knows that as respectful as Leona is towards her, he's still deepdown a bit terrified of her, so she likes to scare him from time to time, it's funny.

And here's my fan design while we're waiting for the canon one:

I can see it. All of them are twisted from a character, a set of characters or an object/concept but they also have parallels and similarities with disney characters (be it from the same movie or not), so it wouldn't surprise me if Zira fell into this category for Ruggie.

I mean they share the unrelenting devotion, the pushiness, the scheming, the bitterness and the resentment (they both also have raspy voices, but that feels more of a coincidence that anything).

Like Zira feels like the worst version of Ruggie, how he could end up if consumed by rage and grief.
