reminder that when change.org asks you to “chip in’ after you’ve signed a petition, that money does NOT go to the petition organizer or any related fundraiser. change.org uses misleading language like this to trick you into paying them. they’re a for-profit corporation. don’t give them your money, send what you can to verified bail funds / gofundme campaigns / etc. instead

Day 1 of Tumblr’s #ActsOfPride campaign:
These are the black trans lives we have lost due to violence in the United States since 2009. Sadly, this is most likely not a complete list as many of the souls we have lost go unreported or were misgendered. They will not be forgotten.

It’s pride month!!!!!
As we welcome this month of celebration and remembrance, please remember that our Black friends and allies bore the burden for us so that we could live without fear; the black rights movement paved the way for the recognition of LGBTQ+ rights; the first Pride was a riot by queer people of colour. It’s time for us to stand and bear the burden with them. The only true way to destroy hate is to spread love and pride… BRING ON PRIDE MONTH

Black fatherhood is beautiful
I’m not ready for kids n a husband but bITCH IM MFCKN READY
The facts
quarantine in nowhere
It was May 1924, and the Ku Klux Klan wanted to showcase its power and cement its sudden grip on Indiana politics by holding a picnic and parade in South Bend, the most Catholic area in the state.
About 500 University of Notre Dame students showed their objections by storming downtown and ripping the hoods and robes off surprised Klan members. As the Klan arrived in trains, buses and cars, the students roughed members up in alleys and stole their regalia for battle trophies. They chased the rest to the Klan headquarters downtown at the corner of Wayne and Michigan streets.
A “fiery cross” made from red light bulbs shined in the office’s third-floor window. By a stroke of luck, a store selling groceries on the ground floor had barrels of potatoes outside. The students began launching the potatoes.

All skin folk ain’t kin folk.
Kamala Harris edition.
Yea I’m not voting for anyone cause they black. That’s dumb. Let’s get someone in office that actually knows what’s best for the county
A lot of black people don’t know she’s bad and don’t know her history cause many of them don’t do research. The media is gonna use that as well as this diversity and inclusivity high everyone is on and promote this shit out of her. And she’s a woman too so she’s already got a lot of women on her side black and non-black. I just hope people do their research this time.
Kamala Harris is not a great person and I would not recommend voting for her in the primaries, BUT *if* she wins you all better still vote for her in the general election. Anti-Hillary sentiment and democrats not voting to ‘protest’ is the ONLY reason Trump won last time and I refuse to live in a Trump 2020 world
WE AINT GOTTA DO SHIT.
Hillary still own the popular vote. Despite the enormous amount of White men and White women that voted for Trump.
Gtfoh.
“Anti-Hillary sentiment and democrats not voting to ‘protest’ is the ONLY reason Trump won last time”
Wrong. White people and Trump voters are why Trump won. Please own that shit.
And Hillary was perhaps the worst possible candidate Democrats could have picked to run against a literal generation of conservatives who grew up hating the Clintons.
But OP is floating a big omission that Dems love to push: Even though the overwhelming majority of Black voters did our part, we cannot ignore that 2016 was the first time in 50 years that we had a general election *without* the protections of the Voting Rights Act, and polling places were removed in Black communities.
We cannot ignore the fact that 1) Even though Clinton once said in 2008 that white voters were her strongest constituents (yeah she said that), it was white voters who overwhelmingly turned out against Clinton, and 2) MASSIVE VOTER SUPPRESSION IMPACTED BLACK VOTER TURNOUT.
@mrs-chekov It’s ahistorical whitewashing for people to keep on suggesting that “protest votes” are why Clinton lost.
I’m black and I absolutely positively refuse to vote for Kamala Harris in the primaries because she was a knowing, willing and very eager partner in the mass incarceration of black people. Every bit as much as the Clintons. Moreso, even.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens after the primaries.
But Dems seriously gotta address the real reasons why Clinton lost—white voters, racism and voter suppression, not Russia and not “protest” voters—or they’re gonna pick another loser in 2020 and be surprised again when it happens.
