Going through long periods of not writing fiction is pretty normal for me. I write non-fiction professionally, so maybe it just takes a while for other stuff to percolate to the surface. When I do get an idea it will often be a couple of months before I start setting it down too. I like to throw it around in my head for a while first, just to make sure it's not a load of utter bollocks, and it's something that I actually want to commit to writing.

The other thing I like to do is build a playlist for my fics, and for the fic I'm working on right now there are a couple of songs on my writing playlist that have actually solved plot problems for me.
