BRAND NEW DAY SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT (aka i need to talk about the last two minutes of this movie)

I think I actually prefer Ned being the first to remember Peter rather than being reminded because even though he doesn't realize it Ned is the person Peter needs most. throughout the movie we constantly see them reaching out to each other; Peter watching Ned's (tiktok?) vlogs keeping up with his life, following him to the party I think not even consciously realizing MJ is also going to be there, and i think Ned made the vlogs and the Spider-Man board and the spidey tracker app because he subconsciously recognized something was missing and was trying to find his best friend (especially at the end of the last vlog we see when MJ asks who he thinks is even watching and Ned says he's sure someone is watching, like he knows he made the videos for someone even if he doesn't know who)

the people who make fun of other people crying over movies (like Spider-Man BND) are so weird because it shows how disconnected people are from reality

the theme of spiderman: brand new day being about non romantic love!! the ongoing throughline being that peter needs to not be so alone, that he needs friends. the way jean's story was about her sister. the way frank cried for peter, was soft with him like that, apologised like that because he cared about peter. the way mj's boyfriend doesn't matter at all because what matters is that she's ned's friend. the way the first person who remembered peter was his best friend, his oldest friend because of their special handshake. the way peter being bruce's friend was enough to snap him back from being hulk. the way peter being jean's friend so that she's not so alone is the entire reason we have an ending as happy as we do.

spiderman brand new day and the importance of care. mj not loving peter due to not knowing him, but still caring about him enough to invite him up, to draw him, to send frank to watch him, to give him advice and be concerned. ned not remembering what spiderman means to him, but trying to find him anyway to thank him. frank worrying about this kid who is determined to save everybody he possibly could. peter caring about jean grey, taking a bullet for her despite almost all his interactions with her being antagonistic, because she exists, and she deserves so much better. jean crying over peter getting shot, because he was kind and promised to be there for her and made good on that promise immediately, even though she ended up there because of him. new york and their care for spidey.
