Came across an interesting study from about a decade ago comparing sexual assault in bisexual and heterosexual women survivors (emphasis mine):
Social support is related to sexual minority status and negative psychological impact among sexual assault survivors. We compared bisexual and heterosexual survivors on how different types of social support are connected to symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. A community sample of bisexual and heterosexual (N = 905) women sexual assault survivors completed three annual surveys. Heterosexual women reported greater perceived social support and fewer negative reactions to disclosure of sexual assault than bisexual women, but there were no differences in frequency of social contact. Perceived social support and frequency of social contact were related to fewer psychological symptoms of PTSD and depression for all women. Heterosexual women had fewer psychological symptoms than bisexual women. Finally, perceived social support mediated the relationship of sexual orientation with depressive symptoms but not with PTSD symptoms. These findings suggest that social support and sexual orientation may explain women’s post-assault adjustment.
Being bisexual does impact people materially, and bi women cannot simply be lumped together with straight women because both groups have an overlap in attractions. We need specific advocacy to address a lack in social support & professional support that takes bisexual concerns seriously.

generally i believe it’s unproductive and misguided to try and debate people about their dating preferences - like with especially bisexuals i will always encourage them to not take rejection personally even if it is based on offensive blanket stereotyping, and just focus on the people who do support us. but i just think it’s telling that the exact rhetoric that heterosexual (and some bisexual) women use to disparage bisexual men is literally the exact same that heterosexual men use to justify their possessiveness and need for control over their female partners, especially if the woman is bisexual. and that IS worth continuing to point out.
this was a comment in the comments section of the video above:
like hello?? how is this different from heterosexual men saying “i can’t let my girlfriend hang out with any male friends because that involves imagining them getting plowed every time.” it isn’t. aside from how insane this is, it’s even more telling the type of crude sexual language attached to this sentiment. nobody who uses violent imagery to describe sex (“smash,” “plow,” “rail,” “destroy”) has a healthy view of sexuality. these people aren’t normal about relationships and sexuality. it’s not even worth being upset about the tired ‘reckless slut’ stereotyping - it’s better to know where people truly stand. and it’s better to be alone than grovel after people who see you as a hyper-sexual deviant.
