I'm more confused because Strange is actually a white character? He's been drawn darker at times by different artists, but in 90% of the stuff, he's presented as white dude from Nebraska. Marvel didn't have a major POC character until 1966--this is on their own website--Strange is from 1963, when all the leads were white. I absolutely understand people being upset, but it's not whitewashing (that is a headcanon), it's Marvel's refusal to diversify when they can that's the issue here.

Yeah, in Italy we have had not a lot of DS comics but he is... How can I say it? He is white but he is (I believe) completely different from Benedict Cumberbatch. I like him as an actor, but I don't like him as Doctor Strange. I'd like someone as Oded Fehr or even Patrick Dempsey. I believe their faces suite better, they seem to me more like the Doctor Strange I know and like. I also believe that the real problem here is that Benedict Cumberbatch is EVERYWHERE. Ok, he is a good actor (but not the only one). I believe they choose him also because of his huge fan base and this doesn't make me happy.
