Paypal changed the look of how you will fill out information and send money. Thus, you need to be super careful. Donât go all willy nilly through and be like âYeah yeah yeah sendâ you need to stop when you see this screen right away.
Before you proceed, you will first notice one major thing: your address is showing. What you need to do if you are ordering a DIGITAL WORK (aka, it is being sent to you via the interwebz) is you need to click on your address and there around be a drop down menu of 3 (or more) options:

+ Add a new shipping address
Be sure to select âNo address neededâ, it is very important that you do. If you leave your address in there, Paypal will assume that you are to receive a physical package. A physical package which needs proof that exists physically. Paypal will want the artist to provide shipping labels and tracking info on said package. This is bad, very, very bad. Artists can get in trouble if they cannot provide these things.
Please, if an artist asks to send you back your money so that you can send it again correctly, do not be offended. You are paying them to do your commission, how can they do your commission with no money?

Hi! I'm Opekui, the one from Lock's stream. I was wondering if you could give me advice or tell me a little bit about vending. Recently I've been thinking about how it's time for me to start getting my work out there. I'm an artist, I love to draw and create more than anything. Now I think it's time to get a table at a vendor hall and sell my stuff. How hard is it to do? How much money would I make the first time? Is it a long or small process just to get a table? How much money does it cost? <3

Youâd be surprised how often I get this sort of question, and the only honest answer I can give is âit variesâ. It varies based on the venue, the promoters, the predicted number of attendants.
At my first con, I barely broke even, but that was because I traveled half way across the state for it and it was a rather large con, so the table fee was pretty high; I pretty much lived on snacks that I bought at Kinkos whenever I went in to restock on prints. My second con I didnât even break even, because once again it was a very long trip just to get there, I was staying in a hotel, and it was mostly the wrong crowd for my work.
That said, the only way to really find these things out is research. As far as the long game goes, scout out local conventions, talk to the artists at the conventions youâre interested in working at, get in touch with promoters, figure out your genre and look into niche conventions, as well. And browse convention websites! All conventions should have their artist alley and vendor hall information posted publicly, so artists and vendors donât have to jump through more hoops than necessary. If the info isnât readily available, there will be phone numbers and email addresses for getting in touch with the folks in charge.Â
And, honestly, donât be surprised if you donât break even your first few times around. Itâs an investment in learning the ins and outs of the industry.Â
Oh, also, when you do get a table, âGOPHERSâ ARE LIFE SAVERS. Make sure youâve got a reliable assistant who is able to make sure youâve got stock, help you carry things, and man the table when you need to take a break.

Ok so Iâve been quiet about this for some time now, and I thought I should break that silence and make this public. (Hey other people are posting art PSAâs, this ainât new)
We are Artists, We are many
Being a artist on Tumblr alone isnt easy. There are millions of other people  doing the exact same thing youâre doing. Amongst all of them you can be overlooked so easily. Now I am familiar with all those PSAs about not worrying about being popular and loving your own art. Thats all well and good, no ones debating that. But we artist want to share our art with the world. We want to show everyone what we can do.
The Wall
When we receive praise and love for our work, thats the best feeling in the world for us. We all have friends, fellow artists or not, that support us. But here on Tumblr, your art might not get pushed out into the crowd. For myself as an example, I get a 1 reblog for every 10 likes on something. And this is only including when I originally post it. When art post is liked, no one else sees it. Likes stay hidden and donât appear on others dashes. (And yes, some blog themes do show likes, this I am aware)
Likes are good, but Reblogs do a lot more
When someone reblogs your art, a whole new set of people get to see it. Most of them are people who have never seen your stuff before. For example, whenever Carbines Official WIldstar Tumblr reblogs my Wildstar art, I get bombarded with likes, reblogs even follows! But before that, when I post it in the first place, not much happens. Dont get me wrong, Iâm grateful I get anything, but feedback and notoriety is what keeps an artist like me going, and many others as well. Now I may understand that sometimes something someone draws isnât your cup of tea, thatâs alright! But even if you show a little interest, a reblog does a world of difference.
Support your friends, Support those who care
I know this is all sounding a little preachy, but itâs something I needed to get off my chest. There are no complaints, there are no orders, just a call out from all us artists. From the big and professional, to the small and unseen. We all want to share our art with the world, and it can all begin with a reblog.
( I dont think I need to say that everyone should reblog this, it goes without saying no?)
