She did not want to be loved for the beauty that took two hours to create. She wanted to be loved as she was—without the makeup, with her hair tousled and untamed—with all the little flaws that were uniquely her.

She never wanted to be loved for what she could do. She wanted to be loved when she could do nothing at all but simply be. Quiet, still, overflowing with emotions that had no place to go except to pour.

She did not want to be loved only in success if she could not also be loved in failure, when she was lost, hurting, and at her lowest.

She never wanted to be loved for her intelligence if she could not be loved on the days she walked into walls, forgot things, or stumbled through life.

She did not want to be loved in the glow of youth if she could not also be loved when her hair turned grey and wisdom had replaced innocence.

If you love her, love all of her—the woman she is, the girl she was, and the person she is still becoming.

Anything less is not love at all.
