AUSTRIA 2018
29.06.2018-06.07.2018
In the summer of 2018, it was time for a roadtriiip. Three of my friends and I hopped into a car and drove aaaall the way down to Austria for a few summery days. It is a long ass drive (~8h) and we started early so we wouldnât be arriving to late. When we arrived in Austria, we were greeted by the best views on to the Blindsee right by the road we were driving on, so we just had to stop!
For the first two nights, we stayed in an AirBnB in Piburg, it was really cute and honestly not too expensive.Â
Later that day (after we packed everything into our little AirBnB) we went into the town of Oetz for dinner at CafĂŠ Heiner. We had some drinks and some amazing traditionally Austrian food like my Käse Spätzle.Â
Our main objective of going to Austria was AREA47 by Ătztal Bahnhof. Itâs a water-amusement park and I honestly donât remember why, but we really wanted to go. They have loads of slides and fun activities you can do, but since it is a little expensive, we decided to go to the main waterpark area on our first full day (we got some afternoon/evening ticket, I think) and then we had booked white water rafting for our second day. And let me tell you - it was a lot of fun! We had our GoPro and we took some hilarious videos of ourselves sliding down those slides and white water rafting in that freezing mountain water.Â
Even though it was an expensive experience, I would recommend visiting AREA47 if youâre someone that enjoys some watery fun and some sliding action. Oh and btw, we were SO lucky with the weather, we had about 30+ degrees celsius, which - honestly - I didnât even really think Austria could get that hot, lol.Â
After our waterpark adventures, we drove to a different part of Austria to go to an observation deck that I had found on some travel instagram page and really wanted to go to. Itâs called Treppe Ins Nichts and itâs in Ramsau am Dachstein. Itâs on top of a mountain and you can get there with a short (& kinda pricey) gondola ride. Be aware that up there, it can be windy and quite a bit colder than down in the valley, so donât go up there in shorts (like we did). It was windy as hell up there, there even was some snow! And the views were incredible. I would 10/10 recommend checking it out - I think the price tag is worth it! (~40âŹ)
I mean: LOOK at those views. damn. Back down from the mountain, we had some traditionally Austrian food again (Kaiserschmarrn hmmm) and then drove to The Alpine Club by Diamond Resorts Hotel in Schladming, where we stayed for one more night before driving aaaall the way back home (which was quite the journey). The hotel was alright and we even spent the way overpriced fee for using the hotel pool that night.Â
All in all, I had a great time and would highly recommend anyone to go explore your neighboring countries because look what you might find.
Until next time, alvipalvi Â
