“Why not just move then? If you don’t I would expect you to be in this situation almost monthly. After all, I did only give you permission to come today as I’m not going to let a hungry pack starve but if it came to a regular basis I don’t think I’ll be very kind.”

“After all wolves aren’t exactly my favorite. Not after how they exiled me just because of something that is not in my control.”

“We’ve been there for many years. It will be very difficult to move that many wolves. Besides, we’re very stubborn. Not many wanna move from there- Hey, ya don’t have to worry about me comin’ into yer lands more than this. Yer very kind to let me in this once. I appreciate this.”

Koga had to even out his own power. He could be strict when he wanted to be, but needed to listen to what the people said. He knew the game won’t be gone for too long anyway. Many of times had past just like this. They’ll be back.

“Really?! Oh I bet they are adorable.” She squealed, “Oh please can we go see them?” He had instantly captured her full attention with the mention of pups.

“Heh, I thought ya might like that. I’m sure others in the pack would like to see ya as well.”

He kneeled down, gesturing for her to climb on his back. The two of them could get to his tribe in a flash if he ran them there.

She thought of his offer, looking at her sleeve, “Well…if taking your extra furs isn’t too much trouble….” Maybe she could get some potatoes with the fur. Herbs only got her cabbage at best.

Hearing him talk of the village, she looked up before following him. “Is your territory really so close to the village?”

“Not much of a trouble at all, really. If ya want them ya can have them.”

Koga decided to take it slow and walk there. Normally he would be taking off, but he didn’t know how fast she can be. But upon hearing her words on how far it is; he had to think about it.

   “You all make this look so easy.” She let out another sigh, dropping the squirming fish right by the now still one. By all, she had been referring to literally everyone besides herself. Reaching into her skirt pocket, she pulled out a handkerchief, wiping the feel of the fish off her face. “Here Koga, you should wipe your mouth.” Kagome offered, placing the cloth in the other’s hand.

   Stepping out of the water, she stared down at the two fishes they had caught, regretting taking on this task by herself. Then again, she was the one who insisted, but that was mainly because she was frustrated with Inuyasha and needed an excuse to leave.

   Staring over at Koga, she let out a small laugh. “I think I’ll give up for now, thank you though.” She didn’t want another fish to smack her in the face. “You should stop by some time. I’d give you some cooked fish.” She sent him a smile before picking the fishes up. “This isn’t exactly enough for, well, anyone besides two people.” ‘Ahh, I hope the others don’t get mad.’ 

“Well of course. Years of trainin’.”

His handsome smile still glowed on his tan skin. He watched the fish wiggle for the water, but sadly it couldn’t go any where. His eyes averted from the fish to Kagome. Koga looked at the cloth in her hands, and took the offer. He gave her a soft nod in thanks.

The wolf stayed in the water, glancing at the jumping fish. Kagome needed more. He guessed he could help that stupid mutt one favor. He could catch a few more fish for them to eat. Effortlessly, the wolf demon caught at least five more fish. Once they were in his hands, he to stepped out of the water.

“I couldn’t let ya go empty handed. Ya friends will be hungry. I’ll help ya carry these.”

He nodded, “I’m called Sych. I don’t have a pack but I have taken this territory as my own. I don’t travel a lot but thanks for the offer.”

“Why is the prey in the mountains scarce anyway? Usually you guys do well up there.”

“Nice to meet ya Sych. Ya gotta nice area ‘round here.”

Koga sniffed the air, hoping to find that scent of that large game again. He growled lightly when he didn’t find. Perhaps something else would come by.

   An uneasy chuckle escaped her lips, hands scratching her cheek at seeing Koga catch a fish in his mouth. It was surprising to see him move so fast, fish bleeding in his mouth– also kind of gross, but his flustered reaction had made her smile.

   “You’re actually really good at this, Koga.” Kagome picked the fish from his hands, the smell making her nose scrunch up. “Have you ever eaten fish cooked?” She was curious, seeing as how Koga always seemed to bring his pack raw meat. 

   Setting down the fish on the ground near the two, she let out a small sigh. “I don’t think I’m cut out for this.” She held her hands up, eyes focused on the fish in the water. “How will I know when they jump–” And just like that, a fish sprang forward, causing the school girl to tumble backwards, the fish smacking her across the face while her hands struggled to take grasp of it. It wiggled in her grip but Kagome had it caught, only she didn’t look too happy with her accomplishment, face feeling slimy thanks to the fish. 

   She let out another sigh, staring down at the wiggling animal trying to free itself. “Well… I caught it…”

He chuckled some. It was pure instinct that caused him to catch it in his mouth. Koga could hear the fish coming close to the point it was ready to jump. It was rather embarrassing. Though he quickly cleaned his mouth, and let his hands rest on his hip. At least he was able to give Kagome another bite to eat.

“Eh, I gotta catch food the rest of my pack. Besides, we were taught young. Ya practice it each day ya live. Normally not. But, I did have it once or twice before.”

Koga shrugged his shoulders, tilting his head just slightly. Raven hair spilled over his muscled shoulder. Three, two, one, the fish sprung from the river water. Lips parted as he let a chuckle slip by.
