They’d done this song and dance before and he knew that she wasn’t going to let up on him until he told her what was wrong “Just a nightmare.” he told her; part of him still hoping she’d just accept that and move on, but it’d been so long since he’d had an actual nightmare that he knew she wouldn’t buy that in a heartbeat .”You and our possible unborn child gunned down in the alley where they died.”

Bruce knew that he didn’t need to specify; they both knew his entire life revolved around single moment in time. One moment where he’d just been a scared little child watching his parents gunned down.

Now he was the one who did the scaring.

“I’ll get over it, I just…found a good workout clears the mind better than just trying to go to sleep.” he told her, his attention turning back ot her “Besides I’m not tired and I have a few files of evidence to sort through in the batcomputer…” He trailed off and stared at the ground for a moment before looking up “You should go back to sleep; you need it.”

Selina hated that he was having nightmares about her being pregnant and getting shot, and she had to focus on helping him through this. Yes, a selfish part of her loved that even in the farthest recesses of his mind, he was happy with the idea of being together and expecting a baby, but he was worried he’d lose her…and how he lost his parents.

She could be taken from him in an instant…but the reverse was true too.

“I know you’re not tired, Bruce,” she said, leaning up to press her lips to his. “I know that you say that anyway. You’re exhausted. You need sleep, and you need rest, but you also need your city and you need to be the one to save her. You won’t lose me that way, though. You and I are two of the most amazing people that I know, and should we be having a baby, you can bet your ass that we’d have one. I’ll be carrying him or her to term and make you suffer along with me. Food cravings, sex cravings: all of it.”

“They would be very spoiled.” Between herself and Dick alone, the child would be treated like a little prince or princess. And that’s not including what Bruce would do, or anyone else in the house. Briar gave her a smile, “I understand. I know it would be great for them. I promise.” She nodded, “Sometimes I wonder if it’s weird that it’s just been me and Francis for ever. I mean, I don’t think he’s ever dated someone else. And I haven’t. But I can’t think of being with anyone other than him.” She smiled more, “I am all for you to settling down.”

Amber eyes flickered back up to look at her, before he nodded. “I know.” He knew quite well that Selina would make the ones that hurt Briar regret touching her. And as much as he wanted to do that, he didn’t have the training. “Just make sure to bash their head double for me.” He sat down, taking a deep breath, “Be careful, Selina.” 

Selina had been a little caught off guard when Bruce kissed her, but she smiled into it and kissed him back. There might have been things that she couldn’t talk to him about, about her nightlife, but she could definitely do this. In fact if he wasn’t careful, she could get very, very used to this.

“So was that your secret plan, Bruce?” Selina asked, shaking her head with a laugh. “Invite me as your date and then blind sight me with a kiss? I’m easily started, you might need to proceed with caution,” she teased, but that much was also true.

In fact when it came to Bruce, she seemed to get started quickly too.
