so Tressler owns this fancy restaurant in NYC right? High class, fine dining, you know. what you’d expect from him. he’s awful, as per usual, but he still owns the restaurant. only shows up every once in a while but whenever he does he ends up firing half the wait staff or something stupid because he’s an ass
Walter is his son that occasionally goes to the restaurant to mess with the staff. total dick. he likes having power over everyone and totally abuses it all the time. and he’s the playboy son of a billionaire so he can do whatever he wants
Chase? General Manager of the restaurant, mainly to be Tressler and Walter’s spy. no one likes him. he isn’t good with customers either which is no surprise, but Tressler keeps him there anyway
Bu Bu is technically the “kitchen manager” (in charge of the kitchen, ordering supplies, etc.) but she’s essentially the actual manager since Chase is incompetent. The most badass person you will ever meet. she destroys rude people with words of steel and everyone loves her. Walter hates her but Tressler keeps her around because she’s basically half the reason the restaurant even stays open
Dylan is the other half of the reason the restaurant stays open. He, of course, is the head chef.
i’d like everyone to take a moment to imagine Dylan Shrike in a chef uniform. can you see it? good. let’s continue.
Dylan is an AMAZING chef. It’s his life passion, his dad was probably a chef whose career was ruined and then he died or something, idk. I’m sure I’ll find a way to tie that in. Point is, Dylan can cook like a fucking master. If Gordon Ramsey tried his food he’d be amazed. Probably because Dylan isn’t a cocky asshole like all those other chefs on his TV show but whatever, back to the point
Danny, naturally, is Dylan’s protegé Sous Chef - huge passion for cooking, lots of talent, but dear god can he be an asshole. It’s a problem. Whenever Dylan is mad at him he makes him chop vegetables for an hour. Walter likes messing with him especially.
Henley is the restaurant’s star waitress. amazing at her job, always gets the best tips, charms people like a pro and makes sure they stay happy. All the other waiters think she’s amazing. it’s wonderful.
Alma is kind of the “head waitress,” aka like the mini-manager of the wait staff. pretty sure that isn’t actually a restaurant position but whatever. she’s also a top tier waiter (though of course henley is by far the best), and all the people who work in the front respect her a ton. she doesn’t take shit from anyone, least of all Chase, and she protects her crew from Tressler and his cronies whenever possible. Basically team mom.
Jack is probably a college-aged kid trying to earn money bussing tables, and he ended up working at Tressler’s restaurant. He’s cute and actually pretty good at reading when people need things, so Alma and Henley have been slowly teaching him the ropes to waiting. he’s been catching on really quick.
Lula is an overenthusiastic yet talented young pastry chef. her chattering can be kind of annoying in the kitchen but honest to god, her deserts are the most beautiful and delicious things ever. Dylan actually found her in a dingy restaurant and took her under his wing.
have i mentioned Dylan is basically team dad? I think I forgot to mention that.
Merritt, being Merritt, is the restaurant’s expert bar tender. the bar is kind of situated in between the front and the back of the restaurant, so he gets an equal amount of face time with everyone. His Manhattans are legendary. Chase likes to come over and screw with him a lot, which Merritt doesn’t appreciate. Chase is a dick.
Li is Bu Bu’s grandson and a host. very charming, good at his job. He also helps Bu Bu organize and order supplies
Allen Scott-Frank is the sommelier
I have no idea what the agents are (Fuller, Cowan, Austin), but they’re in there somewhere. Maybe they’re regulars?
And Thaddeus Bradley is, of course, the dreaded evil food critic. Dylan hates him with the unquenched fiery intensity of a thousand burning suns. Bradley feels similarly. Whenever he walks in the door, the entire restaurant knows shit is about to go down.
Merritt once started a betting pool one time on how long it’d take before they started yelling at each other. Surprisingly, Lula won with the prediction “eight and a half minutes.”
Tressler sometimes just straight up hires Bradley to try and give Dylan’s food a bad review so he can fire him, but it never works because all the other regulars love his food to much. One time he tried to shit on Henley’s waiting instead and Alma nearly murdered him with with a cognac glass from the bar. It was terrifying and he’s never said anything bad about the wait staff again.
The Horsemen are, of course, all very close friends. United against the forces of evil Arthur Tressler. Henley and Danny bicker constantly and it’s hilarious.
Best of all, they’re all adults so any ship is game. My current favorites are for Dylan: either him and Alma as the star-crossed lovers of the front and back sections of the restaurant, or him and Danny as the bickering student and master chef duo.
Alma and Dylan gossip about horrible customers together no matter what ship it is. They usually do this at the bar with Merritt
any relationship in the restaurant has a betting pool attached to it. Merritt manages them, sometimes with Lula and Henley’s help.
