dan and phil really encapsulate what queerness is to me in that on one hand there's the crushing weight that makes you hide it for 16 years and on the other there's the love. and oh the love.

sorry this is getting to the point of being over-discussed but i want to add one more thing which is that yes dan and phil are notorious and extensively documented liars who were constantly bullshitting through their teeth about everything over the course of their entire careers but the point of it was that no matter what, their inner truths and authentic hearts bled through........ they were ripping at the seams in an effort to contain it........ and they were aware of this being the essence of their appeal but they kept the line where this molten sticky core was showed to those who got it while still keeping themselves safe for those who wouldn't... the difference isn't that dan and phil are necessarily more inauthentic now than they've ever been but that by parading themselves around as being in their "most authentic era yet" the parade itself becomes their job as opposed to just doing what they do and trusting us to read.... all of our little big two-way parasocial implicit understanding.....
