reblog if it's okay for your mutuals to message you and create an actual friendship, not just interactions
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
i miss enjoying things. i miss the things i used to love.
wip wednesday but it's thursday
tagged by @letsdosciencetoit and @sierranovembr, thanks pals. as per usual with this one, i'm making it an open tag because i have no idea who if anyone has any interest.
the only thing i've been capable of writing recently is my tommy/omc fic which will eventually come back to b/t but! i love my guy, give him the fairytale whirlwind romance i beg of you. at some point, tommy will tell buck that he needs to chill out about his ex husband because "i wouldn't be the guy who's capable of making it work for you if he and i hadn't loved each other". ANYWAY. have some whirlwind romance. context: tommy is moving up to washington to be with his man.
They're watching the sun set over Lake Shasta and handing a bottle of beer back and forth when Jack clears his throat.
"I want to ask you something crazy," he says.
Crazy's their stock in trade, so Tommy just hands the bottle back and waits.
"When we get home, there's a couple days after Liv gets back and before I have to go back to work."
"Yeah?" Tommy prompts. He doesn't think he's ever seen Jack nervous like this before. Even so, it comes as a surprise.
"Wanna get hitched?"
"What?"
"Married. Tie the knot. Put a ring on it."
Tommy laughs. "You're—you're actually serious, aren't you?"
"Yep. I spoke to Liv about it before she left for New York. If we get home before 3p.m. Monday, we'll have time to go get a license. Three day waiting period, so we could all go to the courthouse on Friday. Now her birthday's passed, she could even be our witness."
Tommy looks at Jack, at the bottle hanging from his fingertips, at the salt and pepper beard that's been coming in for the whole drive and thinks, my husband.
Jack misinterprets his silence and says, "Or we could do something less crazy. A license lasts sixty days. Or even less crazy and we can just —"
"Yes," Tommy says. "Yeah. Okay. Let's do it."

Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.
Praying for a safe journey back to the spirit world, Uncle ❤️‍🩹🦅
Today is the anniversary of the death of Jonathan Joss (King of the Hill, Parks and Rec). Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who died protecting his transgender husband, on the first day of Pride month. Today we remember him and how he protected his family.
they posted a full version lol it’s mr Stacy’s dad for me
this pride month im thinking about the time i tweeted something about how i was tired of heterosexuality in film characters and immediately, IMMEDIATELY, my parents texted me, individually, asking me what i meant. I backtracked a little because the confrontation threw me off guard and waved it off as a joke and also that i mostly meant i was just tired of the standard gender roles in films and i did, i did really mean that and it was part of what i was talking about but also there was more to it, so much more but those two text messages scared me so bad. never let your parents follow you on twitter.
IT HAS NEVER BEEN MORE SERIOUS EVER!!!

the bad thing about having unhealthy habits due to mental illness, is when you DO do something healthy style you can't brag about about it because then people will then know you've been doing it yucky style all along. Like you can't brag you changed your sheets or brushed your teeth because then ppl will be like oh did you not brush your teeth regularly before? Thats yucky disgusting! So you just gotta keep it to yourself. And be proud alone, I suppose.
Anyways in my opinion, the most authentic Dan and Phil have been as a collaborative duo was the return of the gaming channel, specifically up until the Four Seasons video. I thought it was super cool to see the penthouse suite, but the whole game element of making one person suffer while the other had a luxurious night felt weirdly antithetical to their usual brand, Ă la "I've spent most of 2016 with another person". I don't like the way people claim that Dan and Phil are codependent because I do genuinely think they are actual best friends who enjoy spending time together, and I think over the last 6 months the idea of their friendship has completely been lost in favour of their relationship.
And honestly, I'm a romantic, I was as happy as anyone that they came out as a couple, but I don't care for the way that people act like they're making it their entire brand when they specifically said they weren't going to do that and that nothing was going to change, and when I actually watch things like the podcast they really haven't changed much but I think the aspect of their creativity has been lost in exchange for clicks about their relationship, and I used to really enjoy the fandom space when people had to actually discuss the content rather than solely about their relationship.
I also just want to say in this long ass post that I think it's crazy that people who have been in a fandom space for a handful of months think that people who have been fans of a creator for over a decade should just shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down and that our opinions don't matter because you're enjoying content that I don't think is their best, and it's frankly insane that y'all feel the need to defend literal strangers from valid criticism that they're not even going to see. I've been worried that there's a lack of community growing in this fandom space when typically, community has been the main focus, and y'all are NOT helping disprove that.
Im sooooo conflicted about this. I 100 percent agree with all of this but I also get them clickbaiting about their relationship and people’s interest in it. it makes sense to me especially since they weren’t able to do that for so long. and im not gonna sit here and pretend like I don’t like hearing them talk about their relationship. there’s an appeal there.
but, and ive said this before, i dont think they’ve turned into a couples channel, they’re just more free to talk about things and it naturally comes out now.
I’ve been dying to say this but haven’t but I don’t like the four seasons video. it was the first time I felt like they were doing lowest common denominator YouTube thing, and I didn’t fully believe it wasn’t all staged. I don’t think all their creatively has been lost — they spent a lot of time putting the hard launch podcast together, and i think they’re set is one of the coolest podcast sets ive seen. as much as I miss the gaming channel (which honestly is weird of me to say because I didn’t really watch their gaming content until after the hard launch lol) I also get them wanting to move away from that. but I do wish they would do more new things more frequently. Dan and Phil Are Dating Other Boys was soooo good (even through the second hand embarrassment lmfaooo) but I don’t feel like we’ve gotten something like that again and I wish we would!!!
Im really enjoying the podcast and I look forward to it every week but it’s not perfect. they do still move through topics pretty fast to get to uninteresting segments. like this week, Phil Richard’d too early, right in the middle of a topic I was enjoying. Which was especially annoying because this Pride episode, they got a bit more serious and I liked hearing them talk about their experiences with Pride and being closeted in a space that feels more casual than a 45 minute essay video about those topics. but it ended so quickly just to move on and I wish we could just stay still for a few more minutes.
All this to say, I agree with OP but I also understand and pretty much enjoy what they’re doing now except for some caveats but those caveats do stand out a bit. Idk about the phandom experience all that much. Even though I started watching them in 2022, I feel a bit like a post hard launch person because I didn’t jump onto dnp tumblr until then so ive been trying to wrap my head around being here in the first place as a pretty anti rpf person (in the sense of I don’t like rpf but I like, get it, within reason).
no idea if any of this makes sense, I literally just woke up.
update to add that I fucking hate their tik toks tho. they’re so boring and I don’t care about them. I though the like very first one was good because it fit the “hey we’re out as a couple now and we can finally do this trend” but what the fuck are all these other trends. they’re boooooooring as fuck.
im going to my first pride on Saturday and im in the parade which ive been stressed about for weeks so and it wasn’t until monday when dan wore his 2019 pride outfit that was i like ohhh you should recreate his outfit for Saturday it’ll be cute and maybe make you less stressed and anxious because ive been finding that having long and big projects distracts me from really bad depression lately and then i found a Halloween store that’s open year round inside in a party store but the Halloween store did not have any skeleton costumes AND the party store did not have any sequins. so what the fuck
they’re saying situationship all the time because they probably think it’s funny because of how not true it is. people understand that right.
