i saw you strutting down the square
wearing shiny shoes, rest dressed bare
tangled in truth, tongue-tied with some guy
i'll sing a song of sorrow and choke down your lies
spitting mad and severely sick of sad
tried to tell you like i was your dad
but words came few and far between
watching you strut some more out the slamming door
Nick Drake *June 19, 1948
i know how to celebrate my new freedom
and forget other stuff if i drink enough
to pretend that i got people, too
people i know who care what i do
crying to elliott smith doesn't help but it certainly doesn't hurt

it all sucks and everyone is miserable and im just supposed to act like its all okay!!
I BOUGHT ELLIOTT SMITH'S "I π METAL" SHIRT AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO COME TO MY DOOR
serenade me to sleep and
play your sorrows away, modern orpheus
you're gone but we're all here listening
top 3 hobbies for young adults:
1. borrowing misery from future
2. carrying grief of the past
3. agonizing over the present
this song was MASSIVE for me when i was 16 and struggling to get over my first girlfriend
"if you ever wanna say you're sorry, you can give me a call"
just kidding, we tried that again a while ago. doesn't work out

i truly do feel allergic to love, and i'm no longer sure what to do.
i'm surrounded by friends, all laughing and having a grand time. we just finished playing a fun show with our new band, and a bunch of people came out to support us.
i couldn't ask for more, and yet, i feel so alone.
i just don't know how to accept the love i've given; my heart has just melted all the way through my ribcage and left me with a big empty hole in my chest.
do any of y'all wanna see pictures or videos of me playing bass in my punk band
i like elliott smith in a diffrent way than others do #sorry... I hate how hes become tiktok music of doom and despair!!! he was the funniest, sweetest guy ever !!
eric's trip is really something else. to me, they perfectly capture what it feels like to be in love; that grimy, sticky feeling.
their love for chaos and noise is almost sonic youth level, and the way they can hone that raw noise into a song is amazing.
specifically the song "allergic to love", the song i named my blog after, has a place in my heart for the way it does just that. it opens with a bunch of static that makes the lines about TV have so much more depth
anyway, eric's trip is a great band. i definitely recommend

Someone uploaded a high quality video of that one Elliott Smith 1998 interview/live show in the Netherlands HELLO???? Like it is no longer someone filming a TV of some old ass fucked up tape what the fuck. I was literally watching the old one yesterday.
Like look at the difference itβs so clear now lol
i can't seem to tear myself from Elliott Smith's "Grand Mal" since i first heard it a month or so ago.
specifically the songs "From the Poisoned Well", "Stickman", "Let's Turn the Record Over", and a few others (which i'm blanking on right now) found themselves a special place within my heart.
his unreleased material is, i think, better because it is unreleased. the listening feels intimate and secretive.
something about the Grand Mal is so beautiful to me. it feels like a monolithic compendium of Elliott's life, handed to you on a silver platter.
well maybe i'm thinking too far into it... i hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as i do
