Once I read someone saying that Jealous Guy (iirc) by John Lennon was a love song, but since it was confirmed that it was about Paul, then turns out it wasn't a love song after all, because it couldn't POSSIBLY be about Paul and a love song at the same time, apparently.
This same phenomenon happens with Oasis, but with every single song. Because omg the Gallagher brothers are not subtle at all and yet! You'd think "I could be your lover, you could be all mine" in a song called "Guess God Thinks I'm ABEL" (as in the famous biblical character murdered by his brother) would do the trick, but nope. Or the mere FACT that there is an officially released Oasis song that contains the lyrics "you're my lover, I'm your brother" and people act like it doesn't say what it says. Like it isn't a song about incest written and played by a band that is infamous for the fact that it's headed by TWO BROTHERS that admit they WRITE SONGS ABOUT EACH OTHER. They talk through songs. And people act like the recurring brother/sister motif is a concidence that happens to appear a lot in Oasis lyrics!
"Oh it's about the band Sister Lover that played with them" my dude I DON'T CARE where Noel took the guts to do it, he wrote them lyrics and gave it to HIS BROTHER TO SING! Noel Gallagher wrote the words "you're my lover, I'm your brother" and his brother Liam Gallagher sang it like he meant it. It clearly gives Noel the thrill, to expose and be able to explain it away. Or watch people squirm but not have the guts to ask or double down. To talk about his crime and get away with it.
And I'm not even talking about the hiding, the shame, the crime, the sin, the religious guilt themes in the songs. The constant use of God/soul as representation for Liam. The obsessive need to have him.

To me, If We Shadows is even more incrimating than GGTIA and My Sister Lover, because it is about hiding feelings that are wrong, and that he should be ashamed of, but he isn't. And he mentions one brother, singular, which by itself rule out the possibility of it being about shared childhood trauma, since they have an older brother.

God bless the Louise Jones framing, because it makes people turn blind deaf and dumb when faced with a current belonging, the sun chasing (persue of a dream together) and a person that shines and makes Noel want to shine with them. Wanna know who fits perfectly? Liam. And Liam knows it, beause he makes a point of making it clear it's about him.

First time I saw someone contemplating about this song, they were claiming it was about Anaïs. Well it can't possibly be because this song was released in june 1997 and Anaïs was born in january 2000. It also can't be because there's an element of shame in it too, along with some things that wouldn't fit a newborn daughter. But there was someone in Noel's life that had "such beauty", who is an absolute dreamer that wear their heart on their sleeve and could tell Noel things that he'd deem "lies to make things right" and the only person he'd sing "when you find out who you are you know you'll be free to see your own ability" and never say to their face and this person is, again, Liam.

If you know the lore, you know it's about Liam, there's no going around it. Noel just said it's about Meg because it had to be about Meg at the time, but even their fuckass dad got that it was about Liam. I just love this bit so much, had to include it alongside the other ones.

Can't say he never warned Liam. In Stand By Me, of all songs. Pleading Liam to stand by, to take him if he leaves, to look behind the door (Noel and them doors) with him, only to keep him at arms length like that.

Same album/time period of Stand By Me and If We Shadows. Again feelings that are wrong and things caught in the mind. This bit specifically reminds me of the "how can we go on like brothers when we do this?" note. Liam couldn't record Don't Go Away at first because he was crying too much. It really got to him. Pretty normal and well regulated stuff.

Someone said it would be funny if the lyrics were mostly Bonehead's and yeah it would, because I don't take Bonehead to be this fucked in the head, begging to be claimed "when I start to cry" like that. Liam is, though. And also Noel's lowkey obsessed with it, Liam must have made crazy eye contact with him while singing it at the Broadwalk, I'd bet money on that.

Iirc, there's a really good analysis of this song with Take Me, as in Liam was coming on strong. The thing that solidifies it being about Liam though are the good ol guilt in it, but also the "I'll tell you man", which we sometimes may find as "now" in the wild but I've never heard tbh.

You've heard of My Sister Lover, now get ready for its alt version. I was going to focus solely on Oasis songs, but this is basically an old Oasis song Noel revamped and included the star-shaped tambourine bit because he is absolutely insane. My guy, you gifted your brother a star-shaped tambourine and this is basically the other half of the song that became My Sister Lover like... subtlety found dead in a ditch ig. Still got away with it though so 👍👍.
And considering all their history, the quotes, the public kissing, the groping and all that, there's no reason to strip these songs off the meaning of them just to fit a more palatable narrative. Wonderwall is a love song and it is about Liam and these two concepts exist in the same universe. Deal with it. Guess God Thinks I'm Abel is a love song for Noel, I don't think anyone has ever had the energy to deny it because Noel made a point to clarify to the press that it was about him, then what? Liam is delulu and weird, ignore him? Incest bait for clout even when no one seems to care?
It is sick and twisted and that's why the songs exist in the first place, that's even how N and L ended up in the same rock n roll band ffs.
