Dress made by me, end of 2025, photographed by Casey Kerr and Rory Casey, early 2026. Modelled by Jay Katherine Amusan.
(Thanks Jay (o: )
Gorgeous
(I already sent this to another blog but I feel this is an important message)
I'm a survivor of October 7th. I live in the south of Israel and I've been to the US a few times since the event
Here's a list of things not to do/say to a survivor of the Simchat Torah massacre, these should be well understood but they're unfortunately really not:
1. Don't expect/demand the person to share their story. It is a painful and traumatic thing to talk about for many (as is with traumatic events) and they don't owe you their trauma
2. Just don't ask about it unless the person brings it up
3. Don't share your spiritual "reasonings" as to why the whole thing happened (e.g. "Were the people in your community shomer shabbat?" .. yeah people have said this to me on multiple occasions)
4. Don't get political. The fact that we have community members who are no longer alive because of a terrorist organization is not up for debate
Just be sensitive and aware and don't be an asshole :)
.
Thanks for speaking up for yourself, and sorry that happened to you. I'm glad you're alive, anon.

"It’s just..."
It’s just a celebrity on a red carpet wearing a red hand pin. Fashion is subjective. It’s just a slogan projected onto Big Ben. It’s free speech. It’s just a BBC presenter comparing us to rats. It’s just banter.
It’s just a rabbi murdered in the UAE. A random tragedy. It’s just 50 Jewish kids kicked off a plane in Spain. A diplomatic spat. It’s just a girl in France. An isolated incident. It’s just a plot to kill us in Manchester, a firebomb in Boulder, a shooting at Bondi Beach. Just one-offs. All of them.
It’s just... maybe take the kippah off when you leave the synagogue. It’s just... maybe put the mezuzah on the inside of the door this time. It’s just... maybe have an exit plan.
But you’re right. It’s probably just me.

Women who you don't like, or you don't politically align with, or who are horrible people, still have the right to see their rapists and abusers face justice and to have their voices heard.
This is a putrid attitude to have, BTW. Rape isn't a punishment for being a shit person. It is a violent and fundamental violation of the right to control over one's body. Excusing, dismissing it, or justifying it, just once, just a little, is a road to total dehumanisation. The worst, most evil person in the world would still never deserve to have it happen to them.
Additional reminder that there are always going to be people who think YOU are a horrible person, sometimes by virtue of being a Democrat, or queer, or being pro-choice...
and if you subscribe to the "horrible people don't deserve to see their rapists face justice/do deserve to be raped" take, then there will be people out there who think those things about you.
That's the thing about human rights: every human deserves them. Every single one. You do not have to earn them by having the "correct" opinions or doing the "right" things. Every single human deserves them, no matter fucking what, simply because they are human.
Because the second you start dehumanizing people and then using that as justification for stripping away their rights, there WILL be someone who uses that same justification against you.
#ice cold take:
#this also includes israeli women on oct 7th
#whom plenty of people have condemned as being horrible just by virtue of where they live
#'me too unless you're a jew' hard at work there
@bucktitties It absolutely does 100% include Israeli women, who have been subjected to some of the most vile examples of this type of behaviour in the last few years.
every time there’s a viral post about Magnus Hirschfeld that fails to mention he was jewish and nazi hatred of his work (and queerness as a whole) was a cause and effect of nazis blaming jews for any and all ‘degeneracy’ i want to Scream Yell Scream. you cannot should not separate what happened to him from that what do you mean ‘remember! they didn’t just hate jews they also-‘ HE WAS JEWISHHHH !!!! he was openly jewish and that’s a large part of why he was persecuted so heavily!!!! why are you leaving that out!!! he is not fodder for your ‘ugh those meanie jews are always so greedy and make the holocaust all about them 😠’ inversion

just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
EMERGENCY - ITS AUTO ENABLED!
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig
i need non-jews to realise that the recent rise in antisemitism isn’t strange or weird or unprecedented it’s because people just like you never unpacked the antisemitic biases in their mentality and society and continue not to attempt to. you need to listen to jews - read our books and engage with our issues and listen to us when we say things. i don’t care how much you hate nazis, you MUST be willing to deconstruct the antisemitism YOU HAVE INTERNALISED or sighing about how tragic the rise in antisemitism with no action whatsoever is is worse than nothing

Imagine receiving an award in an industry that Jews built (Broadway) and then using your acceptance speech to smear them as colonizers and vampires.
but I'm sure he only meant Israelis, so it's FINE then.
.
Love it when people say "Jews control everything".
We build an industry, the goyim take over it, they push us out of it, use it to harm is, but of course we're still the masterminds because we created it, didn't we? It must mean we control the world.
Jewish writers write stories, people love them, they retell them while removing all the Jewish themes, and then find a reason to claim why the original stories were actually secretly bigoted and so the newer versions are morally superior and you should erase the original creator from the work.
We get pushed out of spaces. We create new spaces. They get popularized and invaded and reinvented. And suddenly it's our fault it gets wild spread even when we're actively being pushed out of the spaces.
