i cannot recommend enough making an effort to talk to every npc and walking around and exploring every town in a pokemon game
so many people just rush to the pokemon center then rush to the gym then leave but almost every town has so much detail and charm to it, whether its the scenery or a shockingly large amount of buildings, or npcs that just give so many interesting facts about the region you're in
if you take the time and take it slow and just explore the world around you you'll find so many things you never knew and its so charming and interesting-
ive recently been replaying black 1 and was really surprised to find a warehouse store in nacrene city that i just? Didnt Know Existed?? on top of that, im not even at the second gym but some npcs have offhand mentioned "an artist named burgh sometimes comes here" "my new favorite supermodel is this lady named elesa" and "pokemon fountains can be found in twist mountain! its owned by a guy named clay!"
and like. yeah we all know who those are but- the badge case also states their name! and its so neat to me if you were just playing this alone for the first time and without the internet and you checked your badge case you'd be like "hey ive heard that name!" like, just casual foreshadowing but also making the world feel so much more,, Alive? than just "go fight random person in building"

also this isnt just about older gens this Still goes on swsh has so many houses in every town- walking around circhester is literally so much fun, and hulbury has So much stuff i never noticed my first playthrough?? even a train station!
anyways i am so excited to explore paldea and talk to every npc and go into every house and explore every nook and cranny i cant believe we're getting an open world pokemon game
