“Not sure if you’ve noticed the same thing,” Wren starts off, inappropriately timed smile on his face, “but it appears to be break-up season. Two of my close friends from middle school were in relationships for at least two years, both just broke up within two days of each other. It’s sad, don’t get me wrong, just ironic. Let’s hope the relationships here are at least somewhat built to last.”

it wasn’t typical of alex to even remotely pay attention to anyone that wasn’t either a jock or a queen bee; but given the nature of the conversation the other sparked up, along with the fact he just recently got himself involved in a monogamous relationship for the first time —the blonde turned his head to face him. “what the fuck is that supposed to mean?” 

“Not that I had anything to do over spring break, but I am so not ready to go back to that hell hole.”

“if by hell hole you mean that trash you call your neighborhood, i couldn’t agree more with you —  i wouldn’t be eager to come back to that either.”

geles used the upper body strength she had acquired in cheer practice to push herself up and out of the pool, traveling over to grab her towel and wrap it around her tiny frame. “you’re so full of shit,” she accused, a short laugh following her words. “should i even ask why you were naked in the first place? did someone throw up on your swimsuit or were you trying to tan those little cheeks of yours?”

“i’m knowingly full of shit,” the boy corrected her with a not-so-innocent grin, wrapping a towel around his bottoms before he finally turned to face the girl. " —what’s wrong with wanting a little freedom on vacation?” he asked, a small chuckle dropping from his lips before he grabbed his drink and flopped down on the lounge chair beside the pool. “so tell me, g. how’s life been treating you? happy that you’re finally single?” he simply had to ask, a smirk rolling over his features.

“Don’t you have a girlfriend now? Flatter her.” She joked, going to take the shampoo. 

“god damn, news surely travel fast in this shit ass town,” the blonde laughed a little. “ —but yes, i do have a girlfriend, and i flatter her on a daily basis as well.”
