The young beetle-collector’s handbook. 1908. Book cover.
“It’s easier for trans women to pass/be stealth!!”
“It’s easier for trans men to pass/be stealth!!”
Actually it’s easier for people with very specific bodies (white, thin, average height) with large incomes and supportive families to transition medically in a way which is more likely to conform to strict ideas of ‘man’ and ‘woman’
I swear every time I see someone try to make the argument for one of us having it better they exclusively either cite celebrities (again, see white, rich, thin) or assume that the people they know irl are representative of every trans person.
It also begs the point that YOU DO NOT KNOW IF SOMEONE IS STEALTH UNLESS THEY TELL YOU. No one actually knows how many trans people successfully live as stealth.
Most of the passing trans people I know personally are women, but most of the trans people I know to be stealth are men. I also know far more trans women than I do trans men. Not to ignore the fact that these arguments completely erase non binary people who are pressured to just pick a binary gender to ‘pass’ as because it is functionally impossible to be a ‘stealth’ non binary person.
It is completely possible to have important conversations about the specific oppressions that different kinds of trans people face without framing one group as being completely objectively better off. Stop trying to pit us against each other. It isn’t easy for *anyone* to be trans in this world.
A thing that I feel is underdiscussed in the broader trans community is transmasc chasers who are cis women. I've seen it discussed in predominantly transmasc spaces. I do not see any awareness of it in the bigger community.
I am on reddit. Which, yeah, hate me for it, but there are a lot of resources for trans people and I only got my top surgery appointment because of it. One thing I have noticed is that cis male chasers are told off (rightfully so.). Cis women chasers are often not even recognised as such. "I want to date a man but I have trauma with cis men, so I'll only date trans men". "I'm a lesbian dating a transmasc guy who does not feel comfortable with being in a lesbian relationship. I secretly wish he'd detransition". "Trans men are just the better men, they understand me as a woman the way cis men never would!" and similar stuff.
And the comments are nothing but supportive. I have seen simalar things on tumblr or various other social media sites. I luckily have not seen this outside if the Internet very much. At least not this extreme.
I have a very set opinion on this and am biased. I would personally never date someone who wouldn't date a cis man. I am gay and only interested in men, I want to be seen as a man by my partner. I am very uncomfortable with lesbians being into me and have made a bad experience with that. I would not want to date someone who dates me because I'm trans. This is a piece of personal opinion.
Note: This is not aimed against women. Only against chasers of all genders.
Note 2: This is not aimed againstvtransmasc lesbians or their partners. If all people involved are comfortable with the terminology used, that's good for them.

“Aphobia discourse ended” but…
you still think aspec representation is a loss for queer representation.
you still can’t see a character with no romantic or sexual interests and interact with them without shipping them.
you still don’t accept people who are aplatonic, afamial, or any other kind of nonrose anattractional.
you still don’t accept alloaces and alloaros, people who are oriented aroace, people who are cupidosexual or cupioromantic, etc.
you still don’t accept hetero aspecs.
you still associate asexuality and aromanticism with whiteness, thinness, conformity, etc.
you still think of arormanticism as something that only occurs in tandem with asexuality.
you still think of aspec adults as lesser than allo adults, infantilize them, etc.
Maybe the discourse did end. But the bigotry hasn’t gone away.
If passing trans men have male privilege because they look like cis men, then boymoding trans women have male privilege because they look like cis men.
But since trans women who boymode DON'T have male privilege, then logically neither do passing trans men.
remember when binary trans ppl would horribly bully nonbinary people just a decade ago because they were 'giving real trans people dysphoria' and all the transmedical bs that followed?
reminds me of how transandrophobes have been harassing trans men/mascs and one reason that gets cited is that we give them dysphoria when we talk about our reproductive rights being violated.
you feeling 'second-hand dysphoria' will NEVER be an excuse to hurt people. it wasn't a good excuse in 2015 and it's not a good excuse now.
As a transfeminine individual with SEVERE reproductive dysphoria who mourns that I'll never have kids every month, the claim that trans people who are capable of getting pregnant talking about this gives us dysphoria and shouldn't be talked about is bullshit.
By that logic, transfems and trans people born with penises shouldn't be allowed to talk about their reproductive abilities either because lots of trans guys are dysphoric around never being able to knock someone up or ejaculate semen.

“This is what they took from you” and it’s a blonde family cooking barbecue in the suburbs? Brother you are racist and fascist over hot dogs? You know you can still do that. Also if you befriend other ethnicities, they will bring cool other food to the potluck. Stupid ass
my blood sugar is way too low to be coherent about this rn so forgive me. but it is so frustrating how people do not understand that being trans is not some magical separate category from gender. like my disability does absolutely tie into my gender in a variety of ways etc etc. but Being Disabled is not about gender, it is not itself a gender category, you know. my being culturally Southern (US) is not itself a gendered thing although it is gendered in lived experience. but like to be Southern is a different category of being than being a woman or man is.
whereas being trans is, itself, innately, by definition, about gender. like it is not an intersection between being trans and being a man or woman in the same way other identities intersect with gender because if you think about it for five seconds materially that is fucking insane. transness is not a category that becomes gendered through lived intersectional experience, IT IS ABOUT GENDER, INHERENTLY, CENTRALLY. trying to depict transness as something which intersects with being a man or woman is just the result of the cissexist assimilationist mode of "trans"feminism that plagues our community imo. this way of thinking is in my opinion deeply transphobic and i hate it so much and its so hard to explain to people why its so fucking harmful and anti-trans liberationist because it is EVERYWHERE. screaming at the top of my lungs that the patriarchy uses a binary ideology but THE PATRIARCHY HAS NEVER BEEN A FUNCTIONAL BINARY SYSTEM.
as i have said before it really feels like there's been a two decade plus year fucking psyop campaign to convince trans people to completely reject any kind of collective self-understanding as trans, and on a larger level this extends to queer people as a whole. do people not see how beneficial this is to patriarchy. by convincing ourselves everything ultimately boils down to men vs women (as defined by pericishet men and pericishet women's experiences, and on top of that white men and women) we only contribute to how the patriarchy is fundamentally, systemically reliant on queerphobia and transphobia yet tactically denies our existence as a part of that.
as we lose a collective understanding of trans being (WHICH CANNOT BE DIVORCED FROM HOW HOSTILE THE COMMUNITY IS TO NB/GQ/GNC PEOPLE AND BLAMES US FOR ALL OUR POLITICAL ISSUES) we lose our ability to critique the basic foundations of patriarchy, oppositional sexism, anti-heterosociality which works to prevent an inter-gender socialist rebellion. feminism and societal liberation as a whole requires trans people and queer people at large to understand ourselves as being the third wheel, the scapegoat of the patriarchy, and to understand how the idea that "man" and "woman" are homogenous categories that truly bind together millions of people into two groups who all share the exact same material interests and have opposing material interests is a tool of patriarchal capitalist imperialism to divide us from each other.
