ah yes I loved kokoro :) soseki is an interesting author for sure
also I forgot to mention, if you're going to read botchan (or kokoro) I would actually recommend the translations found on sosekiproject.org, imo they feel more fluid and authentic as opposed to the "official" translations. it's a bit tedious because each chapter has its own pdf but I think it's worth it... unless you don't even read pdfs and prefer physical copies, in which case just ignore everything I said lol

may I recommend botchan? it's about a math teacher who gets sent to teach at a middle school in a rural town (he spent all his life in tokyo so he has trouble adjusting to life and culture in the countryside). the story is honestly ridiculous a lot of the time but it's basically poking fun at the hypocritical nature of society and how no one really prioritises morality. it's funny and satirical so I think you'll enjoy it (I hope)
also july is the perfect time to read it because most of the story takes place in the summer iirc :)
hmm i added it to my list! i honestly don't read humor that often but i think i'll like the social satire. i'll see if i can complete it this month (otherwise will aim for this summer). i actually have kokoro by the same author in my to-read list from some time ago so i've been meaning to check out soseki's works! thanks for the rec anon :)

had to look up who phileas fogg is and honestly the premise of this whole story sounds so interesting... adding it to my list
ah, i think you'll like it if you like adventure books with a bit of humor and some plot twists! fogg definitely has a very interesting personality, he was my fav character. lmk your thoughts when you're done :)
people in fiction are always making plans like "how about tuesday?" and then leaving without elaborating. what time? where? do you even have each other's numbers? deeply stressful
