When Lucifer and you made it official to everyone that you were together, it didn't come as much of a surprise. They saw the signs months ago.
The first one was quite mundane. It was a weekday, and Lucifer was on dinner duty. You had arrived from RAD quite early, and already finished everything in your task list for the day.
So why not lend a hand?
Normally, Lucifer would complain about being the only one bothered enough to make a proper dinner. Beelzebub usually ate all the ingredients before starting. Mammon threw all his ramen into a big pot and called it a day. Leviathan forgot that the oven was still on and burned everything. Asmodeus hated the smell of garlic on his freshly painted nails. Belphegor ordered takeout and pretended it was his cooking to avoid the hassle. Satan did tend to be more competent, until anybody entered the kitchen and he got bothered.
Still when others, such as Simeon, actually offered to help Lucifer, he turned them away. He had his own organization. He may complain but he didn't need help.
Your soft footsteps made his hand still the knife on the cutting board. He had learned the sound you made when walking long ago.
"Do you need any help?" you asked, moving to the sink to wash your hands already.
Silence stretched. For a second, you thought he was angry.
"Sure. You may stir the pot" He said, nodding to the soup on the stove. "Talk to me about your day" he said.
When the brothers, lured in by the delicious scent of a proper meal, made their way to the living room, their augmented hearing made them catch bits of the conversation.
Beelzebub and Asmodeus peeked their head in.
You were speaking, sitting down on the stool, any tasks long forgotten. Lucifer was pulling out the freshly made bread from the oven. He was listening. His face was relaxed. And he was interested in what you were saying.
Asmodeus took a picture.
Another time, up in the human world, the seven brothers were talking about their plans for the day.
Asmodeus would join Mammon at a fashion show where he got a gig, the fifth born being the designer of the outfits. Satan got a ticket to a movie adaptation of his favourite book. Leviathan, Beelzebub and Belphegor were interested in going to a Gastronomic anime fair.
Lucifer, turning away from all of them, had simply announced he'd be going to a factory tour nearby. He had already expected the groans from his brothers, calling him all sorts of names. Of course nobody would come with him.
"Oh! Can I come with you?" You asked suddenly, stepping beside him, your hand already reaching for his arm. "Is it the factory that makes the pens that you like?"
Not only were you willing to go, but you remembered his earlier comment.
All the brothers stopped their groaning to look at the two of you.
"A pen factory." Repeated Satan. They had all made far more interesting plans, hoping to allure you to spend a day with one of them. And you chose the pen factory tour.
"Well, of course!"You said cheerfully. "Lucifer was quite excited about it."
The demon in question straightened his tie, the smirk on his face angering all of them. He had won.
The others groaned, now for an entirely different reason.

what if demons had the same scenting habits as cats? i like to think demons have the same scent points/habits as cats do. they have scent glands on their face, hands, and hips.

- he's also sly about how he scents you at first
- he'll invite you to read with him, and by the time you finish the second chapter he's scooched over to press his hip to yours
- he's definitely a hopeless romantic so i can see him offering his arm for you, holding his hand out when you come down the stairs, etc. little gentlemanly things that double as scenting opportunities!
- loves studying with you bc 1. he gets to spend time with you and 2. you're constantly trading supplies and notebooks. his scent is all over your schoolwork now :)
- he's pretty chill about it until you start to smell like lucifer more and more often. he will do whatever it takes to replace that scent with his
- once you start dating he's really obvious with it, almost smug - especially when you're in lucifer's view
- he always has an arm around you or linked with yours, almost instinctively, he just needs you close all the time
- demons sharing habits with cats is not lost on him, and he thoroughly enjoys this fact. he has told this to lucifer as a reason to let him have cats. it did not work, even with you backing him up
- this also means he knows when you've been petting cats without him. where are they, mc.

The library was quiet, save for the occasional rustle of pages. You and Satan sat across from each other, textbooks spread out, studying for an exam. His sharp eyes flicked between his own notes and yours, and though his focus was impressive, you couldn’t help but feel the weight of his presence.
"Need help?" Satan asked, his voice a smooth drawl. He was leaning just a bit closer than usual, and you found it hard to concentrate with him so near.
"I think I’ve got it," You replied, trying to ignore the strange warmth blooming in your chest. But, then the air around you shifted. It was subtle at first, but soon it surrounded you, pulling your attention away from your books.
Satan’s gaze flickered to your neck, then back to your eyes, “You smell... interesting tonight,” He said, his voice lowering.
You swallowed, trying to ignore the flush spreading across your face, “I… what do you mean?”
His lips curled into a soft, knowing smile, “I mean, you smell like me,” He leaned in closer, his breath warm against your ear, "I like it."
Before you could respond, Satan pulled back, his eyes dark with amusement. The scent lingered, making it impossible to focus on anything but him.
“Are we still studying?” You asked, though you knew the answer already.
He grinned, “I think this session’s over.”

- he scents you because who wouldn't want to smell like him???
- jk he likes when you smell like him because you're always on his mind and it's only fair that you're always reminded of him, too!! nobody tell him you can't smell shit
- he's usually wearing perfume and doesn't bother scenting anyone (except occasionally solomon), so you're usually the only thing that really smells like him, and it only makes him more obsessed with you
- he's cheeky and obvious when he scents you, he wants you to know and approve
- even before you're together, he's touchy with you. greets you with a hug and a kiss on the cheek, always holding your hand or linking arms, etc.
- he likes scenting you, but he also likes it when you share perfume. again, he doesn't smell like him most of the time, so people don't recognize his scent. but they do recognize his rare perfumes!!
- probably likes scenting you the most during sex. it makes it more intimate for him - you're not just a quick fuck to him
- probably washes your clothes with his so you have the same detergent smell
- he wants you to ask him to scent you. he likes being reminded of the fact that you love him, too <3

You were relaxing in the HoL’s lounge when Asmo appeared - holding a small, elegantly decorated bottle.
“Darling! I’ve found something perfect for us,” He said, his eyes sparkling with excitement, “A perfume - just for you and me!”
You raised an eyebrow, curious, “Matching perfume?”
Asmo nodded enthusiastically, “Exactly! My brothers scent you all the time, but nobody recognizes my scent. With this,” He held up the bottle, "Everyone will know you're mine!"
He uncorked the bottle, and a delicate fragrance of sweet vanilla with a hint of jasmine filled the air. You inhaled, feeling a warmth spread through your chest.
“It’s... really nice,” You admitted, blushing slightly.
Asmo grinned, tilting his head, “I knew you’d love it, darling. Here, let me help you apply it.”
He guided your hand to dab a small amount on your wrist, then swirled his own on the inside of his arm. Instantly, the matching scents intertwined - soft, comforting, and intimate.
“There,” He said, holding your wrist gently, “Now, whenever you smell this, you’ll think of me... and I’ll think of you.”
You smiled, your heart fluttering, “I like that.”
Asmo leaned in, his face close enough that the fragrance of both the perfume and him enveloped you, “Of course you do, darling. It’s us in a bottle.”
For the rest of the evening, the two of you stayed close, the soft scent lingering around you both - a little invisible reminder that, in every sense, you were connected.

- no but actually he just sees you as part of the pack so to speak, so scenting you at first isn't romantic it's just. what he does.
- if you ask him what he's doing it's just "scenting you." like it's obvious. he doesn't do it to be controlling, and it isn't hurting anybody, so you let him do his thing
- belphie probably has to tell him that yes, mc is family and beel scents all of them occasionally, but never as often as he does with mc. maybe there are other feelings there?
- he'll think about it for like, a day, and then tells you. he doesn't see the point in hiding it, and trusts that you'll see him the same if it isn't reciprocated (he really hopes it is, though)
- when you're dating, nothing really changes with his scenting habits. he might increase how often he does it if you smell like anyone but him or his brothers, but that's about it
- he is very sad you can't scent him back </3 sure, he smells like your shampoo after cuddling but it's so faint its not the same :(

You were sitting at the dining table, buried in your notes, trying to memorize the last few pages for an upcoming exam. The quiet of the House of Lamentation was broken only by the soft rustling of your papers, until Beel plopped down beside you, a curious look on his face.
“Whatcha doin’?” He asked, peering at your notes.
“Studying,” You mumbled, a little stressed, “I need to focus.”
Beel hummed, tilting his head, “Hmm... lemme help,” Before you could protest, he leaned closer, and a faint, comforting scent of his natural warmth washed over you.
“Beel...” You said softly, cheeks heating up.
“You smell different tonight,” He murmured, voice low. “Like... like you’ve been working really hard. I like it.”
You blinked, flustered, “Are... are you... scenting me?”
Beel’s lips curled into a shy, awkward smile, “Maybe... it’s my way of making sure you’re safe. And mine,” He admitted, brushing a hand lightly against yours.
The warmth of him was undeniable. The scent clung gently to your clothes, mingling with your own, and for a moment, all your stress melted away. You could feel his steady presence beside you, protective and grounding.
“You’re cute when you concentrate,” He said softly, leaning just a little closer, “I like being near you like this.”
You smiled, your heart fluttering as his comforting scent lingered around you, a quiet, tender mark that said without words, I’m here. You’re mine.

- he's flopping himself onto you every chance he gets anyways - scenting you is simply a byproduct
- he's sooo annoying and obnoxious about it too, like full-on pressing his face against you
- doesn't care if anyone else is around either. diavolo could be sitting in the same room and he's still rubbing on you like a cat, practically purring
- if you even slightly let on that you enjoy him scenting you, he's somehow even more annoying.
- he glues himself to your side, yall are practically one being at this point. best way to smell like him is always having him around!
- once you're together, he acts the same, but with a lot more teasing. he'll sneak kisses onto your neck when he's nuzzling and then tease you when you go red.
- he will steal your sweaters so it's only fair you steal some of his back. except he's playing 4d chess and now you smell like him! his evil plan worked
- doesn't like when you smell like anyone but him or beel. he'll lay on top of you until he's satisfied the other demon's scent is gone

"H-What?" You and Belphie were meeting up to walk home after RAD, and those were the words he chose to greet you with.
He didn't answer you, leaning into you to sniff your hair, "Gross. Who have you been hanging out with?"
You leaned away in turn, playfully smacking his shoulder, "Okay, ouch. I don't smell gross. And, I haven't been hanging out with anyone - I've been at school. Same as you." You turned to walk away, knowing Belphie would follow.
He grabbed your hand in his before you got too far, pulling you to walk side by side, "It's not fair," His voice was half pout, half growl, "Other demons get to be so close to you their scent rubs off." He stopped on the sidewalk, facing you, "I'm the only demon you should smell like."
You rolled your eyes, though your heart gave an annoying flutter at how serious he sounded, “You make it sound like I’m rolling around with them.”
He didn’t smile. He stopped right there on the sidewalk, tugging you to face him. His purple eyes were sharper than usual - less lazy, more focused, "I’m the only demon you should smell like.”
You stared at him. “Belphie-”
He stepped in closer, his chest brushing yours. You could see the faint shimmer of starlight in his hair, the sleepy sort of magic that always clung to him.
“You don’t even realize what it does to me,” He said quietly, “When I catch another demon’s scent on you. It’s like they’re trying to claim you.”
You swallowed hard, caught between flustered and amused, “So what, you’re jealous?”
He tilted his head. “Yeah. Maybe I am.”
The honesty in his tone surprised you. No teasing. No lazy smirk. You opened your mouth to answer, but he was already moving - leaning in, his nose brushing your neck, then the side of your jaw. A low sound hummed from his throat, something between a sigh and a purr.
“Belphie-!”
“Shh,” He murmured, “Just fixing the problem.”
You felt the warmth of his breath against your skin as he lingered there, slow and deliberate, like a cat marking its favorite spot on the couch - or in this case, its favorite human.
He finally pulled back, eyes half-lidded, looking far too pleased with himself, “There. Now you smell like me again.”
You could feel your face heat, “...You’re lucky you’re cute.”
A faint chuckle rumbled against your arm, “I know.”
