At the end of the battle Pain aka Nagato stated that Jiraiya would have probably won if he found out his secret, well let's debunk that, cause character saying something is always beaten by something character actually does.

We can safely say Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru are pretty much equals when it comes to power, and they faught Hanzo the Salamamder when they were 30, and lost, only got away and alive because he LET them.

Whilst Nagato, aged 15, EASILY overpowered him.

I realize that with years you get more powers and experience, but considering the fact that BOTH of them faught and gained power during those years, there shouldn't be too much of a difference, if something Jiraiya would have to triple his strength while Nagato gained little to nothing new power in order for him to defeat him.
