i checked out space odyssey 2001 recently and im so CRUSHED. tbh i didnt started film and book earlier cause i thought it was some average film about spaceship and evil AI, but I WAS WRONG.
hal's death made me so sad, not because i like this character a lot, but because its so sad from dave's view. he's killing hal not because he is afraid for himself, but because he is afraid for hal. in the book we can see dave's thoughts in the moment, and the fact that dave makes parallels between hal and average human MAKES ME SO SAD
the idea of dave evolving in this moment and hal devolving is so......
and the whole thought of their love. so pure and innocent that it doesnt requires physical body
