A IN ROSEWOOD

A lot of you have been messaging me with your theories, and asking me for my own….

(Side note: I think we are all disappointed with the finale because we read the spoilers for the episode beforehand.)

CHARLES

Charles- above all else- is misunderstood. I believe that he is very controlling of the girls because he needs control in his life.

Evidence: his fascination with dolls, being a “puppet master”… He is assumed to be The Great Charlemagne at the Carnival (puppet master)

Why?

This theory is pretty radical for the PLL writers, but I believe that Charles was born as a boy but wants to be a girl.

He is jealous of Ali because she is the daughter he would never be. He is Jason’s brother.

Evidence: In the video of Mrs. D and the two little boys, one boy is wearing pink laces and the other is wearing blue.

So, Mrs. D decided to put Charles into Radley to “fix” him. An absolutely awful thing to do, but his mother is an “upstanding” citizen of Rosewood.

(Note: “She” refers to Charles)

Yet, Charles refused to change who they were. She transitioned into Bethany, but also saw herself as flawed and disfigured.

Evidence: The drawings that Bethany did at Radley. They depict Mrs. D as evil, or about to be killed, and a young disfigured girl in the mirror.

Charles used the name Bethany to communicate with Ali at Radley. Eventually, Charles’ family began to accept Charles for who she was.

Evidence: Letters from Bethany, Mrs. B buying two yellow dresses in the Christmas episode, twin stuff in Ali’s room.

Except Ali’s father refused to accept Charles’ new identity. Charles began to resent her family, and eventually came up with the twisted plan to replace Ali.

Evidence- Mrs. D saying “Don’t show your father” when she brought home two dresses, recordings of Bethany in Radley.

So the events of “That Night” unfolded. Bethany’s plan was to replace Ali without her family knowing. Of course, Mrs. D found out and tried to hide Charles/Bethany in her basement.

Evidence: bed/snack in Ali’s basement.

Eventually Mrs. D helped her child to escape and evade the police, and take on a new identity. I am unsure if they knew that Ali was alive.

Charles stole the game from Mona when he found out that Ali was still alive.

Motive: Replace Ali, Control her friends like dolls, seek revenge on those who never accepted them.

Questions I still have:

Who killed Mrs. D, and why?

Who is Lesli?

What is Andrew’s role in this? I’m guessing he is Charles’ childhood friend, and was the first person Charles talked to about his gender identity.

This is certainly possible; Mrs. D did buy two yellow dresses that one time. Maybe “Charles” was jealous of Ali, and wanted to be exactly like her.

Remember when Aria’s signature look was her pink streaks?

Lately, “A” seems to be pretty obsessed with Aria’s pink streaks.

And the only thing I can think about is…

Emily: I think it’s very clear at this point that she’s going to go into the army.

Aria: A photographer, possibly a horror photographer since shes been taking all of those creep doll pictures.

Spencer: I think she’s going to shock us all and not be a laywer. Remember how Johnny was telling her all of that stuff about not having to go to college, she can be anything she wants, etc. Who knows though?

Hanna: I’ve ad this idea inn my head for Hanna; I think after the dollhouse she would want to help kids. Possibly a therepist?

“(ask 2) and then behind the mannequin family there is a picture frame with a piece of clothing from a baby it looks like, with something round and blue on it. And then underneath that it looks like an older picture of a little kid and then some writing. I tried to zoom in but couldn’t read it clear. and I also noticed in a picture that the mask Charles is wearing also has a face on the back of his head. It looks bearded and has a pointy nose. Idk, I just wanted to know your thoughts on all this!“

As soon as I saw “Charles” step out from behind the mannequin, I actually though it was Ezra. He had the same stature, shoulder width, small body frame, coloured hair, hair thickness/length and face shape. So I screen shot the frame from the twisted prom and found this picture of Ezra/ Ian Harding online.

Then I took his face and overlayed it onto Charles’ face to see if it would fit. And it does. Perfectly. 

I even did it twice to make sure

Ezra’s face is at 50% opacity so we can see the fit between his facial characteristics and size and the features of the mask, Charles’ head size and his approximate hair line. 

Let’s not forget, Ezra was in the pilot and 3x01

We know him well, he is not a stranger

He is 7 years older than the girls, the same as Melissa, Ian and everyone else who had the Phantom of the Opera prom

He was involved with Ali before the A stuff began, but they didn’t actually do anything as a romantic couple, Ali said so in his car in 4x24 

He has all the information on the girls from his “book” research, has definitely seen Aria’s and Hanna’s room and we can assume he had seen Ali’s too. Not to mention he had cameras everywhere.

He was there “That Night”

He wasn’t there when Toby and Tanner and everyone stormed the Campbell farm meaning he could have been at the prom

He said that he originally wanted to write his book about his family but that was too hard so he wrote about Alison instead, saying that he thought he would write about something that he thought he had a chance of solving. But, as a DiLaurentis, he was still writing the book about his family, just from a different perspective, with a different plot and troubled protagonist/antagonist 

As the Charlemagne, he called Aria up on stage and handed her flowers

The whole Varjack/ Holly GoLightly thing was thought to be an exact mirror of the movie/book with Varjack teaching Holly is was ok to be loved, but his reality could the other way around, he relied on Ali to teach him it was ok to be loved from a family perspective, and then Aria to teach him it’s ok to be loved romantically

He suspiciously went missing for a couple of episodes before the 5x25 finale

His family is rich, he has the money to pull off all of A’s extravagant plans 

He’s an adult with the age and physical capability to be A

So basically Charles DiLaurentis is Ezra Fitz
