Sometimes you just need to pass through.

here is something i think people donât understand, when they get all pearl-clutchy about nazis getting punched:
we â and by this i mean âpeople targeted by nazisâ, but mostly jews, because i am a jew and thatâs where my experience lies â we did not want to end up in a scenario where the highlight of our day could be some guy getting punched. in fact, thatâs kind of ghoulish.
like, ok. i am pretty much the worst kind of bleeding-heart, dyed-in-the-wool pacifist you will ever meet, when circumstances allow me to be. i donât, personally, want to kill nazis; i just want nazis to stop being nazis. ideally, the world would work like it did in my 10-year-old fantasies, where i could walk up to a nazi and be like âjews are people,â and he would be like âholy shit!!! mind blownâ and stop being a nazi and weâd sit down and have a deep philosophical discussion.
but real nazis have this unfortunate, terrifying habit of continuing to be nazis. when you hit them with intellectual debate, or reason, or âtoleranceâ, or âjust giving them a chanceâ, or âcompromiseâ, or any of that shit. they continue to be nazis, which means they still want to wipe out me and my people, and many other swathes of people as well.
which is why i understand people who want to kill nazis. or, in a milder variation, punch them.
i wish they would stop being nazis but they wish i would die. when you, historically, adhere to an ideology that advocates mass murder past the point of any nonviolent resistance, you have forfeited your right to a fair debate. you have forfeited your right to any response but self-defense that is as violent as whatever you make necessary.
nazis forfeited their right to nice counter-tactics long ago, and jews know this.
thereâs another reason, too, why i whooped at that video. not because someone was getting hurt â donât be dense. as i said, thatâs ghoulish. we did not want to end up with our livelihood as a people so threatened that violent self-defense makes us cheer. can you think about that for a second? can you think about the kind of corner weâre backed into, here? itâs not a natural state of being. itâs a place where most people, as far as we can tell, truly do not give a shit if we live or die, because theyâre talking about âtoleratingâ people whose ideology involves straight-up killing us. and so if we see somebody punch a nazi, itâs evidence: that person in the black mask, theyâre on my side.
there is one person who recognizes the nazi as a mortal threat, which means they recognize that jews are people. that people of color are people. that any of the groups threatened by nazis deserve to have their fear recognized.
and every time you, a moderate liberal, a white goy, wring your hands about a nazi getting punched, about violent tactics, about fighting hate with hate, you push us further and further into the corner where we have to cheer at that. itâs sheer relief, at somebody recognizing the terror enough to punch back.
so no, we werenât born bloodthirsty, just salivating at the chance to kick a nazi in the balls. we got driven here reluctantly, by history, to a place where violence in our defense can make us weep with gratitude. you drove us here.
âwe got driven here reluctantly, by history, to a place where violence in our defense can make us weep with gratitudeâ !!!!!!!!!

Joe Biden went on a passionate rant about the cowardice of men who donât stand up for women they see being sexually assaulted
Vice President Joe Biden spoke about sexual assault at the âItâs On Usâ summit at the White House, the last speech heâll give on this topic as vice president. He opened the speech with a moving personal tale.Â

Irish politician AodhĂĄn Ă RĂordĂĄin (TD, Labour Party Senator) calls out the Irish government on their reaction to election of Donald Trump.
âTRUMP IS A FASCIST AND IâM EMBARRASSED BY THE GOVERNMENTâS RESPONSE.â
President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi â all of them offered conciliatory statements about Donald Trumpâs election victory.
Then there was Harry Reid.
In a blistering statement Friday, the retiring Senate minority leader attacked the president-elect as a âsexual predator who lost the popular vote and fueled his campaign with bigotry and hateâ and said that he fears for the treatment of Latinos, African-Americans, gay people, Muslims and young girls under a President Trump. He also criticized the media for covering the transition to Trump as normal, even as Obama and Trump had a civil meeting on Thursday and Schumer, the incoming Democratic leader, spoke with Trump on Wednesday.
âWe as a nation must find a way to move forward without consigning those who Trump has threatened to the shadows. Their fear is entirely rational, because Donald Trump has talked openly about doing terrible things to them,â Reid said. âEvery news piece that breathlessly obsesses over inauguration preparations compounds their fear by normalizing a man who has threatened to tear families apart, who has bragged about sexually assaulting women and who has directed crowds of thousands to intimidate reporters and assault African-Americans. Their fear is legitimate and we must refuse to let it fall through the cracks between the fluff pieces.â

âIn the coming days, people will be looking for someone to blame: the pollsters, the strident feminists, the Democratic party, a vengeful god. But once you dust for fingerprints, itâs pretty clear who ruined America: white people. I guess ruining Brooklyn was just a dry run. The caucasian nation showed up in droves to vote for Trump. So I donât want to hear a goddamn word about black voter turnout. How many times do we expect black people to build our country for us?â
âWhite people, this is the worst thing weâve everâ no, Iâm sorry, thatâs a very high bar. But holy shit, and donât try to distance yourself from the bad apples and say, âItâs not my fault, I didnât vote for him. Hashtag not all white people.â Shush. If Muslims have to take responsibility for every member of their community, so do we.â
this is why the electoral college fucking sucks.
Without the electoral college, the determining factor of the elections would be California, Chicago and New York just because they have more people concentrated in one area. Our system is the best of the best and the people spoke. Iâm hurt as well as most of America but the best thing we can do is keep an open mind, accept, and move on.
So what? Why does it matter if the majority of votes come from one area? If most of the people in the country want one person to be president, then that person should be president. Why should it matter where theyâre from?
And thatâs not even the reason the college was made in the first place. It was made for 2 reasons. 1. The founding fathers didnât trust the citizens. They thought the citizens were too uneducated to make a good choice. And 2. Itâs easier to count the votes of a small group of people all in one place rather than millions across the country when thereâs no cars or internet.
In todayâs age, neither of those reasons are valid anymore. There is no good reason for the electoral college to exist. If the majority of people want someone as president, that person should be president.
Here is why the electoral college sucks:
Without the electoral college, every single vote would count exactly the same. Â No vote anywhere in the country would be worth more than any other vote. Â Now you may ask, but Raymond, isnât it like this already?
NO. Â IT FUCKING IS NOT.
Take Wyoming for example. Â Wyoming has a population of 584,000 people. Â They also have 3 electoral college votes. This means that each 194,667 votes is worth one electoral college vote in Wyoming. Â Now letâs look at California. Â California has a population of 38.8 million people and 55 electoral college votes. Â This means that it takes 705,455 votes for each electoral college vote. Â
A VOTE IN WYOMING IS WORTH 3.5X MORE THAN A VOTE IN CALIFORNIA.
It literally takes 3.5 times more votes to get 1 electoral vote in California than it does in Wyoming. Â How tf is that fair?
Donât come in here and tell me how itâs the best system and without it the only determining factor would be certain cities. Â How does that even make sense? Â Without it, a vote in New York City is worth the exact same amount as a vote in any other city, or town, regardless of population. Â I personally would like my vote to count for exactly the same as anyone else. Â My vote shouldnât count as less because I live in a more densely populated city.
What a good explanation! ^
