I need fanfic writers with no experience around children to either do research or leave it up to people who understand how children work when writing fanfiction including kids 😭 cause no, a one year old is not speaking borderline full sentences. A lot of three (even late 2s) year olds CAN actually speak very articulately. Why is the five year old in your fic speaking like they are two?? Every child is different and can develop at different rates, but it is still (usually) at a very similar rate as their peers. Kids grow and develop skills very quickly so they may be speaking in single or two-word sentences, then just a couple months later they are speaking in (semi) coherent sentences (usually occurs around the ages of 2 and 3). A lot of times writers either totally over-shoot or under-shoot children’s developmental abilities.
