Had a dnd session I thought went really well. Lots of plot, character developement, a fight, and story progression. The players told me they really enjoyed it! Then later I asked my best friend for feedback. They basically said it was ruined bc they wanted a romantic scene with the npc their character is dating and they didn't get it. And THEN they had the AUDACITY to tell me that I wasn't playing my npc well, bc the npc wasn't being romantic enough, in a situation where that npc wouldn't have been acting romantic.
Like. Okay I get it. You want romance. I wanna make that happen for you in dnd. But that's. Not. Why. We're. Here. I created a whole world with lore and characters and history and whatnot and whathaveyou like can you not take an iota of a second to appreciate that??? This is not a fucking dating sim! Dating can be a part of dnd but not the sole focus.
